Green construction saves energy and environment! Today changing environmental conditions are considered as the biggest threat to human life and its consequences are quite eminent or obvious. The impacts of diminishing environmental conditions are felt across the world; in fact you won’t find any country that is beyond its influence. The entire earth is experiencing unpopular and unique climatic conditions such as more and more floods are experienced in monsoon whereas extreme snowfall is taking place during winters. Similarly extremely hot climate is faced by countries globally during summers. If similar climatic changes continue to occur for the coming few decades’ human survival on this lovely planet is definitely going to be difficult. According to various surveys ‘construction’ is the biggest culprit in terms of diminishing environmental conditions. The statistics reveal that rapid construction that is prevailing in every possible country of the world is the greatest reason behind the misbalance of ecological systems. According to reports construction industry is accountable for 30 to 40 percent of the global energy consumption. It is also accountable for the misuse of tremendous amount of material, energy, and resources when buildings are constructed. But architects and engineers across the world are trying hard so that these horrific and disturbing facts can be changed in future in terms of reducing adverse impact of construction on environment. And the fact remains that the rising concerns of architects and engineers have resulted in the emergence and evolution of ‘Green Construction.’ Green construction can be defined as the practice of building design and construction wherein in minimum energy, materials, resources and money is utilized for constructing high performing buildings. The intended aim of this practice is to develop high performing buildings which use minimum energy throughout its lifecycle for meeting its energy requirements. This motive is achieved by executing energy modeling services which result in developing energy analytical models, and these models are used by construction professionals for analyzing and reviewing energy requirement of a building and its performance. Energy analysis is impossible without the support of BIM software Revit, which helps construction professionals in developing energy analytical models. Information stored in BIM models is used by architects and engineers for developing energy analytical models. Based on the outcomes of energy analysis sometimes alterations are implemented on the design of different building disciplines so that the building in making can perform better in future. According to a survey report, green building are accountable for saving approximately 35 to39 percent of energy uses.
