How to perform coordination reviews in Revit? Coordination review which is invariably performed by BIM modelers during deign development in Revit can be defined as a process of reviewing and addressing coordination monitor warnings. Coordination reviews can be carried out by Revit users or BIM modelers once a relationship is established by them between model elements with the assistance of Copy/Monitor tool. Readers must know why and when does the need arise for performing coordination reviews. Well, whenever monitored elements go through any kind of changes or modifications Revit displays a coordination monitor warning. The coordination monitor warnings that are displayed by Revit must be handled appropriately by BIM modelers as it can have reasonable impact on the design. How to handle coordination monitor warnings displayed by Revit? There are varieties of actions that can be taken by Revit users for replying to coordination monitor warnings. 

 

For example if a change has been made to an original monitored element which belongs to a linked project and Revit users want to really implement that change in the design then they need to reply the warning by selecting ‘Accept the difference’ option within ‘Action column.’ This means that the change made by modelers in the original monitored element of a linked file is valuable and it should be accepted for improving the design. On the other hand if a change is made in a copied monitored element that belongs to host project is not worth accepting or is erroneous than BIM modelers performing coordination review must select ‘Reject’ within Action column. By selecting Reject, users want to send an indication that change made to the monitored element belonging to the host model was incorrect and hence it must not be accepted in the design. If in case Revit users end up in deleting an original element of a linked model and if they do not want to address that issue right now then they can go ahead with selecting ‘Postpone’ option within Action column. If postpone is selected by users it means they are in no mood to address the issue at the moment and it will be addressed by them later on.

So in this way depending upon the nature of the modifications favorable actions are taken by Revit users for addressing the warnings during coordination review.
