Loadable Families: What is the simple way to create them in Revit?

A loadable family is generally started with a template which contains all the indispensable information that is highly necessary for the users for starting the family.

• Loadable families can be considered as most important Revit families which are used by users for creating paramount building components such as fixtures, doors, windows and furniture etc. Because of their extremely customizable nature these families can be successfully created as well as modified in Revit Family Editor. • Loadable families can be created by users in external files and they can be loaded in Revit project depending upon the requirement.

Simple way to create loadable family in Revit • As successful planning leads to effective outcomes, it’s important for users to plan the family first and then start creating it. • So for creating loadable family in Revit family editor, users should create a new family file by using pertinent family template. • As families are based on template, Revit users must be careful about selecting relevant family template so that correct information concerning the family can be obtained from it.

• Then comes the time of defining subcategories for the family in making. The most important reason for defining family subcategories is to govern the visibility of geometry. • Apart from defining family subcategories user are required to define or create family framework now. • Family framework can be created by defining family origin as well as by laying out reference plane and reference lines. Reference planes and reference lines are tremendously helpful for Revit users for creating component geometry.

• Apart from this for creating family framework, it is important to determine parametric relationships, which is done by adding dimensions. • Once Revit users complete the family framework, they are required to define family type variations which can be done by them by determining different parameters. • After this single level of geometry must be added by Revit users in solids as well as in voids. And geometry should also be constrained to reference planes.

• Now for inspecting if the family components are behaving exactly users are required to flex the family. • If the component behavior is as per required family should be saved by the users which ultimately ends our process.
