In most simple terms family framework is created from reference planes and reference lines which are substantial for users when it comes to developing family geometry. As described above, users are required to define family origin in the first place before they go to next step in developing family framework. For defining family origin it is important that two reference planes intersect with each other in a view. In a nutshell family origin is defined with the intersection of two reference planes in a specific view. After this Revit users are required to sketch reference planes which further assist them in crating family geometry. To lay out reference planes Revit users are required to click ‘Create tab’ then Datum panel and finally Reference plane. It’s mandatory for users to clearly define a starting point and an end point for reference plane. After this users must name the reference plane so that it can be identified by them when other views are opened by them. Once Revit users are done with the task of laying out reference plane they are then needed to clearly identify parametric relationships. And hence for creating parameters Revit users are required to add dimensions between reference planes. Dimensions can also be added by users on reference lines. But the fact remains that family parameters cannot be created by only adding dimensions between reference planes, instead users are required to level the dimensions for the sake of developing instance parameters. After this users are required to flex the framework wherein they are required to balance or adjust parameter values. Once the framework is flexed by users it ultimately ends our process of creating family framework.
