Clash detection services ultimately facilitate seamless construction! Streamlining construction methods which ultimately result in seamless construction is the biggest contribution of BIM technology for AEC industry. Clash detection remains the primary requirement of any multidisciplinary project wherein composite design needs to be examined for the identification of clashes that are incorporated within model elements. Design and construction professionals are required to implement subjective knowledge along with concrete clash tests for identifying conflicts. Clashes can be recognized within an integrated model as well as between separate interdisciplinary models in Navisworks. Computer software such as Navisworks has tremendous ability in understanding the relationship between different model elements which helps it in discovering clashes. Navisworks distinctiveness lies in its ability to read distinguished files generated from different Autodesk applications.

For accomplishing clash detection process in Navisworks, it is compulsory for design and construction professionals to import Revit files into Navisworks or export files from Revit to Navisworks. The first step in this case is to import all the vital Revit files into Navisworks that are supposed to be used in clash detection process.

In the next step users are requested to convert all the newly imported RVT files into Navisworks file format that is .nwf file format. Once Revit files are converted into NWF file format they can be effortlessly opened in Navisworks and clash tests can then be conducted by using them. For conducting clash tests Navisworks users must switch to ‘Clash Detective’ tool that is positioned in the left side of the screen. Once clash detective tool is accessed by the users they should then click on to ‘Select’ tab that is located within clash detective tool. Once ‘Select’ tab is selected by users two different columns will appear in front of users wherein they have to select different model elements which have the chances of interfering with each other. For example structural columns can interfere with architectural floor, so in one column they should select ‘structural column’ and in other column they should chose ‘floor’ and then click ‘OK’ to run clash test. In this way clashes between structural columns and floor can be easily identified by users. For checking its results, users must go to Results tab. In this way variety of clashes can be found during clash detection process.
