festival thematic •!
expanding on onedotzero’s ongoing investigations into the nature of the city, this year’s festival for the first time introduced a theme used as a subtext to open a dialogue with audiences and as a point of inspiration for participating artists
•!
our communications for submissions put out a specific call for responses to the theme of citystates - a creative inquiry into the concept of the modern metropolis
more people than ever before are living in cities bringing with it a greater socio-cultural mix, sense of movement and transition than previously experienced. now more than ever it is important to understand and interact with the broad spectrum of what the city offers us - how we inhabit it, how we engage with its cultural make up, and how we view and influence its future
•!
also used to form the basis of a creative brief for artist commissions, the concept was explored across film, live audio-visual performance and installation
•!
there was a positive response to this topical and widely relevant theme by media, artists and audiences; encouraging coverage, wider participation, and informing onedotzero approach to opening of new routes for direct dialogue and exchange between onedotzero, artists and audiences via onedotzero evolving digital and real world platforms
