Software testers have a very refined skill set that permits them to do their job well and add value to a software development project. Often-times, it’s the small parameter that may have a serious effect on organization web application. So, if you are going to be a tester then prefer to pay details to intense work also.


2. Capability To Communicate Communication plays important role in an agile environment as testers have to communicate in every step with the development, business analyst, and other major members in the project.

It’s your profession to make sure you know requirements, can describe test criteria and are capable to explain how to restructure bugs.


3. Imagination: Imagination beats everything as it has infinite height, width and length. Do not consider that imagination work is only of developers, you can also do this at the time of testing. Don’t restrict your thinking when testing. Ask queries from your seniors and then then think about what if? What else? Etc. Prefer to write your test cases around user needs and add some new imagination points.


4) Discipline: Discipline matters a lot as the release of the product totally depends upon software testers. Testers have the responsibility of highlighting the current and future risks. So you as a tester do not miss anything in the project meetings. There might be less bugs in the software but you have to try and catch all the bugs like Defects, future risks, situations etc. Proper discipline helps in preparing the process and creating the QA reports that you can forward to the development manager or discuss the things in the meetings.

Remember that you do not have to behave casual as everything depends on your decision. Disciplined testers will most of the times have their own plan for any task and not go totally ad hoc and unprepared.


5) Time Management: Time management comes into role when there are many tasks and you do not know which task to work on first. And managing and working hand in hand with priority is necessary in making sure that you are working hard and effectively. So as a tester you should know how to work effectively and helps in growing your organization to the next level.


6) Technical background: The demand for software testers with a solid technical background is increasing as to excel in automated and API testing technical skills are needed. So you must have knowledge of different test automation tools in order to get higher salary and become a QA professional.
