The State of Texas Missions: David Hardage and Michael Evans, Sr.

Michael Evans, Sr.

Michael A. Evans, Sr. is the pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas, where he has humbly served for more than 28 years. Evans was elected to serve as President of Texas Baptists in July 2018. Evans is the former Director of African American Ministries for the Baptist General Convention of Texas, which involved service to over 800 churches statewide. He has served as President of the Board of Trustees of the Mansfield Independent School District and as Adjunct Professor at Dallas Baptist University. Evans is the author of Leadership in the Black Church: Guidance in the Midst of Changing Demographics. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Pre-Law) from the University of Texas at Arlington, the Master of Divinity degree from Texas Christian University’s Brite Divinity School and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Baylor University’s Truett Theological Seminary. He is married to Lisa and the couple has two children.

David Hardage

The Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board elected David Hardage to serve as the convention’s executive director in January 2012. Hardage has been pastor of four churches, interim pastor of five churches, is a former Associational Director of Missions and served as a Development Officer. He has also had the privilege of serving on various Texas Baptists committees and boards. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, a master’s of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City. He is married to Kathleen and the couple has two children.
