Singing Men of Texas

The Singing Men of Texas was organized in 1975 by the Church Music Department of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The group consists of ministers of music, pastors, associate pastors and Baptist university faculty who have a profound desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through music in local churches, in our nation and abroad. The Southeast chapter of the Singing Men of Texas concert season is from September through May and includes an annual retreat in late August. Rehearsals and concerts are held Thursdays, and the group sings in churches in the Southeast Texas area. First Baptist Church Nederland Celebration Choir

The Celebration Choir, under the direction of Rev. Allen Cade, is the heart of the worship ministry of First Baptist Church of Nederland, Texas. Consisting of 50 members, the choir leads congregational music as well as performing anthems on Sundays. This ministry group also performs special Easter, Patriotic and Christmas presentations each year. First Baptist Church of Nederland and the Celebration Choir are committed to serving a multi-generational community and congregation as it has done throughout its 114 years of ministry.

Cecile Dagohoy

Dr. Cecile Gonzales Dagohoy is a graduate of the West Visayas State University, Iloilo City, Philippines where she obtained both a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences degree and a Doctorate in Medicine. Aside from her involvement at Rice Temple Baptist Church, she is also an active participant in denominational work. She is the Adult Missions Consultant of the Woman’s Missionary Union of Union Baptist Association and has been featured at conferences sponsored by the Woman’s Missionary Union as well as the Texas Baptists Intercultural Ministries. Dr. Dagohoy currently serves as a Gastrointestinal Oncology Business Systems Analyst at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and has coauthored four publications.

Houston Baptist University Schola Cantorum Choir

Houston Baptist University’s top choir, Schola Cantorum, is an auditioned ensemble that performs sophisticated and advanced choral repertoire. To be selected as a member of Schola Cantorum, students must demonstrate expertise in sight-reading, excellence in vocal development, and a deep commitment to the artistry of the choir. Schola Cantorum frequently represents HBU in concerts, tours and church services. In addition, Schola Cantorum often collaborates with the HBU University Singers and local performing organizations such as the Houston Choral Society and the Houston Civic Symphony.

Kevin Klotz

Dr. Kevin Klotz is assistant professor of Music and director of Choral Activities at Houston Baptist University. He directs the Schola Cantorum and University Singers, and also teaches courses in conducting, piano and musicology. Since 1999, he has served as Music Minister at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land. In addition to his work in the church and school, Dr. Klotz has worked as a conductor and clinician for a variety of ensembles. Dr. Klotz is an active and participating member of the American Choral Directors Association, Texas Choral Directors Association and National Pastoral Musicians.

Keron Jackson

Keron Jackson is committed to being an example of what God can do in the life of a kid born to homeless drug addicts. Following his debut with The Dallas Opera, Jackson was hailed by The Dallas Morning News as, “A powerhouse bass voice who takes command of the stage.” His professional highlights have earned Jackson stage debuts with several national orchestras. Jackson has taught at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Liberty University, the Baylor University Bible Conference, and East Texas Baptist University, as well as performing concerts and preaching in many parts of South America.
