an electronic thumping box that does the trick for you. This technique works all year, but especially in winter. Stick to the 20- or 30-foot breaklines and, once you fi nd a fi sh, stick to that depth for a few minutes. Usually, more fi sh will show up. Slow down and let your graph fi nd the fi sh. If you fi nd them under birds, remember to shut off the big motor and sneak up on them.

LOCATION: On Champion Creek in Mitchell County, seven miles south of Colorado City on Texas 208 SURFACE AREA: 1,577 acres MAXIMUM DEPTH: 28 feet IMPOUNDED: 1959
STRUCTURE IN CHAMPION CREEK Reservoir includes deep rocky dropoffs and ledges, rip-rap, underwater humps, and a few old tank dams. The water is fairly clear near the dam and gets more turbid upstream.
TPWD has worked with local partners to install additional fi sh-attracting structure. (See this symbol... ...on the map).

Fishing for Largemouth Bass in November can be excellent here! Top water baits in the morning and evening can produce some pulse pounding strikes.
