Angels with Invisible Wings
Saturday, March 15, 2014 Eisemann Center, Richardson, TX 1
Welcome st
On behalf of the Angels Pageant System, I am delighted to welcome you to the 1 North Texas Angels pageant. We have made every effort to make this day a memorable one for each contestant and their families. The Angels Pageant System, is a non-profit pageant system that hosts a free pageant for children with special needs. The Pageant System was started in Little Rock, Arkansas four years ago when 11 year old Andrea, who was quadriplegic and had hydrocephalus, accompanied her twin sister from her wheelchair, to shop for a pageant dress. During this outing she asked her mother, “momma, when can I be in a pageant?” From that question, the Angels Pageant System was formed. To date this pageant system has 30 pageants in 23 different states and we have crowned more than 1000 angels. This pageant is dedicated to Andrea, who earned her wings on December 22, 2013…her legacy lives on! I am proud to be the director of the North Texas region angels’ pageant. The North Texas Angels pageant was created when I saw the excitement from parents of several students with special needs, when they performed a play that focused on their abilities. After that performance, one parent stated that she had never seen her child perform in the positive manner that he did that day. Another thought her child would never make it through the entire play…and he did! That moment is what motivated the phone call to BJ Thorn, Angels Pageant System founder. I shared with BJ that I was ready to help make a difference in the lives of a few special angels in North Texas. BJ was ecstatic, gave us her blessing and the planning began. The planning committee was formed with other educators and family members of individuals with special needs. The 2014 planning committee has worked diligently for months to ensure a successful day and I thank them for their time and dedication. Samantha, an 18 year old angel from the Alabama Angels pageant stated it best, “It [The Angels Pageant System] makes me feel good and I feel like this is my day to shine and make a lot of friends that understand me!” Thank you for your support and God Bless!
Sincerely,
Staci R. Newton Staci R. Newton, Director

Misti Jeter, Mrs. Texas US Universal
Russell Swan, NBC CBS Survivor Contestant
My name is Misti Dawn Jeter and I am proud to represent the great state of Texas. Born in Houston I have been raised with southern grace and charm. I am a military wife, mother of three, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. My goal in life is to make a difference. Whether it is a small or large contribution, every day people need help. It only takes one person to change the world into a better place. In today’s society a woman must be “everything,” the glue for work-life balance. As career-oriented as I am, I still have fun with Michael coaching all three of our kid’s soccer teams. Fun Fair Positive Soccer (FFPS) is a non-competitive league supporting the acceptance of special needs children. Over the past five years we have been blessed to coach the most amazing families. I have had the pleasure of running the Tomball Region as Team Formation Director the past 2 years. In 2011 I found several lumps during a routine breast exam which lead to a visit to Baylor College of Medicine. I was very fortunate. After the lumps were removed, reconstructive surgery completed I was left with a passion to ensure all women are as lucky as I am. Early detection is critical. Knowledge is power. To celebrate my story and raise awareness I participate in as many events as possible to help women in need whether it be fundraising efforts with the Avon Walk Houston, stiletto marches with Breast Cancer Charities of America, or getting dirty for a cause with the Dirty Girl Mud Run. As a leader within the Avon Walk Houston Crew, I lead our Trail Sweep Team for 2 years. This team is vital to the safety of all Avon participants during the 2-day, 39 mile walk. Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with breast cancer. One of the most powerful differences you can make is to educate yourself, your family and your friends. Russell Swan has had the opportunity to appear on and play Survivor not once, but twice. In the shows 19th season Russell led the Galu tribe to dominate the tribal phase of the competition, though he was abruptly pulled from the game in what Jeff Probst calls one of the show's scariest eliminations. Russell was placed on the purple tribe, Galu and was quickly elected leader by his tribe mates. Russell went back a second time to the Philippines to compete on Survivor’s 25th season and was placed on the Matsing tribe. Russell was ultimately voted out after a rapid succession of Matsing losses. Both experiences were blessings in their own way. Always prepared to joke and laugh at himself, Russell was willing to go to drastic lengths for a million dollars in order to win, including making a vow to cut off his dreadlocks if he won the title of sole SURVIVOR. Russell has been attracted to jobs with responsibilities ranging from environmental protection, minority youth education advocacy and representation for homeless individuals. Russell is an attorney who resides in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. He is a dedicated father and a loving husband and describes a perfect day as spending time with his daughter, Nilah, and ending the day by talking privately with his wife, Caroline.

In Loving Memory Special children are just Angels in disguise. Sent to fill our hearts with joy And to brighten up our lives. They had so much love to give And brought blessings untold. We know those tiny feet Now walk streets paved with gold. We know they were formed From Heavenly air. Created by our Father With gentle, loving care. And as we wonder why God plans things as He does. He only sends these special angels To families with lots of love. For He knew we would watch over them And love them very much. He has now called them home So they can watch over us.
