Welcome to Richworth’s 2011 catalogue, inside you will enjoy one of the most extensive ranges of carp baits out there. We have been working relentlessly to bring you the freshest and most attractive bait we can produce. We all know how much effort carp fishing requires and want you to relax knowing you are using bait that will not only catch carp but will repeatedly catch carp. Personally I put a year’s worth of effort into producing XLR8 into the growing range at Richworth. This particular bait is already setting a landmark for catching large carp from the off. I used 35 batches of bait to get to what I considered to be the one. We have used products in this bait that carp find irresistible and almost dominate catches wherever it is used. I tested the bait on 11 different waters catching from all with 30s from 7 of them. This was topped with a mid forty to die for, she was simply stunning. If this wasn’t test enough it was then dished out to the prolific Richworth consultants for their input, bringing fantastic results. Both here and abroad XLR8 was not only catching but catching the largest carp in record times. A close friend of mine took the bait to France for a week and had the best week of his life smashing the venue to pieces. Another friend had a brace of 63.08lb and a huge 68.12lb within a very short amount of time. We know here at
Richworth what is going to gain legendary status very early on and if it sells more than KG1 or Tutti Frutti then it must be good. Those two baits need no introduction as they consistently produce the goods when asked. It’s quite funny when I look at the Richworth range they have got lots of baits that don’t take the limelight anymore but are still magnificent carp baits. Ultra-plex, Multi-plex, Tiger Nut, Salmon Supreme just to mention a few. I have now been part of the Richworth team for 11 years and have seen it grow by listening to their customer’s requests and consultants. We now produce bag and stick mixes to match the most popular baits. We also produce matching pellets, dumbell hook baits in bottom and pop up variety and not forgetting dips and sprays. These are all done at the correct levels to give your hook baits that all important edge over your neighbour. You can be assured that every freezer bait is made with the freshest eggs and then blast frozen to lock in that seal of quality. I would not use bait that I am not personally 100% confident in, this is why I use Richworth. In fact I went to the flavour house that Richworth use and was really impressed by the set up. Not only do they produce 14,000 different flavours but their ears were wide open to our requests. Ronnie Buss and myself came out of there with a box full of potential winners for some cracking new baits. But obviously development of these takes an age but we will keep you posted. Twenty three years ago on a wet night in July I was awoken from my slumber by a screaming bite alarm to do battle with a carp which was to be the lake record at the time. The following morning on the banks of Elstow a spotty teenager admired his prize and left others to wonder what his success had been due to. It was however nothing to do with a secret rig or clever cast but simply a big mirror’s inability to ignore the bait I had offered it. The lake’s inhabitant had been conquered by Richworth’s and in this particular case the famous Honey Yucatan boilie had proved its downfall. For that single memorable moment in my angling career the company who helped me catch that dream fish has always had a special place in my heart probably like thousands of other anglers who began catching carp under Richworth’s guiding hand. Many years and many fashions in our sport have come and gone since then but this classic company has remained unfazed with its number one principle of quality bait still at its core, helping to make new generations off angler’s dreams come true. We have been asked for these countless times by our customers who use the freezer bait, So that they could fish a boilie that offer some advantages over a round bait on certain waters. Sticko Pellet Bond is a particle binder designed originally for pellets that works on most dry particles. Sprinkle a small amount on slightly damp baits, wait a few minutes for Sticko to work and then ball up your particles for maximum feeding distance. 150g

Air-drying Boilies The main reason for air-drying baits is for preservation purposes. All of our frozen range at Richworth air-dry brilliantly, but a careful process has to be followed to achieve this state. Make sure that the baits are completely thawed out in their bag first, as all the ice in the bag contains attractants that need to be drawn back into the boilies. When completely thawed out, spread the baits on air-drying racks which most good tackle shops supply. If you don’t have one a towel works well placed in a warm dry place, alternatively an old pillow case to hang them up in. It’s important that the boilies are shaken or moved around periodically to ensure even drying. The end result is a biscuit effect with the boilies. These will survive indefinitely, but will keep on shrinking during the drying process. So choose the size of your boilies carefully. An awesome tip to re-hydrate your boilies prior to use is to put the boilies in a container and
pour one of the following over them, Corn Steep Liquor, Liquid Kelp, Minamino or any of our liquid supplements. This gives the bait a massive release of attraction immediately into the swim. This method is known as re-hydration and, we kid you not, is well worth the effort.

The method we use to blast freeze our baits ensures that all the goodness we use in the production stage is locked inside and ready for you. Dumbell Boilie Pellets The only difference in the make up of dumbell boilies is the visual side of things. All the same ingredients are used in their production. These baits are 14mm in diameter and 20mm long giving them the appearance of a large pellet. Because of their dumbell shape we at Richworth feel that fish will find them hard to eject once picked up. An edge in a bag is a term I would use. Try making an unusual snowman by using an airo dumbell pop-up with them. Couple this presentation with a PVA bag of Richworth pellet and you have a winning combination every time. Available in nine different flavours in 400g bags.

“BOILIE PELLETS ARE ALSO DESIGNED TO BE DIFFICULT FOR THE FISH TO EJECT, SO IN TURN, YOU DON’T LOSE SO MANY”
1 One egg is cracked into a bowl. 2 Half the recommended dosage (for one egg) of complex liquid is added. 3 Add a teaspoon of egg albumen. 4 Mix it up with a fork and slowly start adding the complementary base mix. 5 Keep adding the base mix until the consistency is right (doesn’t feel too sticky). 6 Either roll the baits to the desired shape by hand, or use a bait gun and a rolling table. If using a rolling table then make the cylinders a lower diameter than recommended. For example I have been using a 10mm table with 6mm sausage from the bait gun, making neat little 10mm by 6mm barrels. 7 Once the baits are rolled I boil them for a minute and a half, and leave them to dry before putting them in the freezer.

Boilie Pellet Tips To Keep You Catching
Try hair-rigging two boilie pellet hookbaits onto a long hair in conjunction with a size 8 hook, presenting them over pellets.
When things get really hard, presenting two halves of a boilie pellet hookbait over small halibut pellets can score well.
When using a single hookbait and a PVA bag of halibut pellets, draw the hair through the PVA before inserting the stop.

Pop-Up Mix The powder used in these mixes is believed to be the lightest in the world. By including this in our mixes at Richworth we have managed to produce what is renowned to be the best pop-up mix available on the market today. Whether it’s pop-ups you’re making or a floating paste, you need look no further. The mix is produced from natural ingredients and will remain buoyant for at least two days if prepared correctly. Activextracts And Supplements ActiveXtracts are a bit special. They are baits that can be used when the chips are down and bites are really difficult to tempt, or whenever you think that the fish might not want to feed on huge beds of bait. Think of it - a paste that can be rolled into a ball, left to airdry, bounced off a work surface, hair-rigged like a boilie and then, when it is immersed in water, breaks down at a controlled rate. When hair-rigged, ActiveXtracts shrink slightly, gripping the hair, yet the outside of the bait exudes a halo of flavour. ActiveXtracts work because they are pure, natural powders containing ridiculously high levels of protein and because they provide carp with high levels of nutrition without needing to introduce huge amounts of bait. Because carp and other cyprinoids have highly advanced chemo reception systems they can detect the goodness in ActiveXtracts before they ingest them. Not a bait to pile in, but one to fish in conjunction with a two or three bait stringer. Developed for carp, barbel and chub, the 5hr+ structure is suited to rivers, stalking and short sessions, whilst the 15hr+ is for longer sessions. Last year saw the complex as busy as ever, with literally thousands of fish caught from around the site. Every year, there are loads of new PB’s set at our lakes and 2010 was no exception. A couple that particularly stood out were those of Adam Sawden, who during the final of British Young Carpers’ Angling Championships on Brasenose-One, broke his PB twice in a night, landing mirrors of 26lb 07oz and then 28lb. The other was that of Ian Richards who landed a 32lb 01oz mirror from Brasenose-Two, setting a new lake record along the way. This was the second time the lake record had been broken on this lake during 2010, a year which saw BrasenoseTwo start to step out of the shadows of its sister lake next door; producing more upperdoubles and twenties than ever before.

During 2010 we continued with our ongoing stocking programme. In total we stocked out over 900 carp around our waters, with fish ranging in size from 5lb to 31lb; Brasenose-Two, Hardwick/ Smiths, Oxlease and all of the lakes down at the Guys Syndicate received 20lb plus fish and we hope to introduce similar numbers and sizes again in 2011. Since 2007 we have introduced a staggering amount of carp around our fishing lakes, a figure which at last count was just under 4,000 fish. This programme is on-going and will continue in the future; in fact as I write this I’m awaiting a delivery of 1,000 (12lb) fish from VS Fisheries that will be on-grown over the next few years and will eventually be stocked out ready for you all to fish for. DIPS, EXTRACTS AND FLAVOURS When it comes to flavours the only limitation is your imagination. We produce over 100 flavours all of which have been tested and proved to be excellent fish attractors. With a little imagination there are literally thousands of combinations for you to try, for instance we know that a few years ago a lot of anglers were using Plum Royale and Crab and Mussel mixed at a rate of 70% Plum and 30% Crab with absolutely devastating results. Another combination which has been used to great effect is Condensed Milk and Maple at a 50/50 rate. We have also heard from people that have blended three and even four flavours together with immense success. So go on, let your imagination run wild.
