S/S 15/16 sees the natural world, through the medium of design, fight extinction by reintroducing its self into urban life. As nature is excessively poached on a global scale it falls to design to for fill our longing for nature’s presence Organic form and naturalistic texture bases the inspiration as designers incorporate proliferating technologies to produce engineered materials for aesthetic products for interiors Materials and prints are harmonious with our ideals of a natural environment but with a regenerated approach for spring summer, interiors are enhanced with sage green hues and are blended with accents of copper and iridescent finishes

Amazon’s new HQ in Seattle will be formed of three interconnected glass spheres begins the first phase of construction. The complex will nestle amongst undulating grassy mounds and provides flexible workspace in a landscape of trees and vines
2014
Construction on the ‘Garden bridge’ in London; designed by Thomas Heatherwick is expected to begin, with completion projected for 2017

UN 2015 Global climate deal to be reached with international governments raising efforts to reduce deforestation emissions 2015 World Expo in Milano, key themes are FOOD, ENERGY, PLANET, LIFE & key words on a journey to the roots of the boundaries of the future

Apple’s new headquarters in Cupertino, California to feature 15 acres & to consist of 6000 planted trees, expected 2016

Interior key pieces are inspired by organic form and materials. Combining wood with metallic finishes add a touch of luxury to furniture, whilst green glass pendants with contrasting cords enhance rooms for spring. Bold digital prints are introduced with textile furnishings and copper is still influencing home accessories

Sustainable living is a feature within home accessories, as vertical gardens act as room dividers as well as been functional method of indoor planting. The eco-friendly Green Wheel designed by NASA offers in house herb and vegetable growing. Lighting design has been inspired to incorporate nature as Danedelight integrates living and technological aspects. 3D printed Planter Bricks incorporates plant and vegetation within city building; they can also replace bricks to create a unique arrangement of interior/ exterior wall planting

Natural textures and earthy hues inspire the development of materials, organic form is mimicked and molecule structures influence embellishment. Iridescent finishes enhance and contrast against raw-effect surfaces

Surface inspirations are drawn from microscopic inspections of organic materials as well as the natural pattern that is present, which is replicated with layering form and creating structure, 3D printing techniques build up to reveal a dimensional surface. Materials are reclaimed or mimic those from earth giving interior spaces richness and an amplified texture

Digitally constructed prints lead the way with the intention of making digital editing and techniques obvious. Inspiration filters from fashion catwalk trends which show classic floral and botanical influences have an engineered approach, scales are larger, placements are unconventional and the layering of prints is left noticeable 44

Regenerated earth green tones form of Pistachio, Spearmint and Evergreen which contrast well with hints of Hazy Lemon, Carnation and Carmine Red. Shadowy neutral tones are based of Muted Violet and Gainsboro, these all act as a fresh collective for S/S 15
