Fibrous Open weave was inspired by washed up nets at the beach it was covered in sea foam and moss and sand and I loved the texture, it was chopped and shredded so that’s when I began to create a cut out sketchbook of patterns using a knife laying tissue paper behind it to really show off the designs. As there were no colours in my sketchbook, I decided to only use neutral cream and white colours for a natural feel to the fabrics. Hand netting was done using yarns and ropes of different thicknesses to create the open effect that was desired as I didn’t want any floats to be seen behind the fabric, combined with various knitting techniques I created a combination of thick chunky fabrics, opposing some delicate ones just like the fabric I saw at the beach.
