IN-TOUCH A/W 15/16

IN-TOUCH | A/W 15/16 With technology pervading and increased developments of touch screens, A/W trend for 15/16 In-Touch sees a focus on the increased use of texture putting the consumer back In-Touch with products and environments leaving us feeling comforted and leaving our senses feeling satisfied. The hard glossy white aesthetic of the iPhone with touch technology has alienated the use of tactile rewards, as humans we rely on the sense of touch to explore the world around us, In-Touch sees interiors mimicking natural textures and forms. Materials that appear hard feel soft to make us question our sensory abilities and revive our tactile senses. Colours are muted and calm to create a relaxed mood away from the heavy technological buzz.

AN INNATE SENSE Over exaggerated knits and textures provide comfort when away from technology the innate sense of touch takes over, helping us feel comforted and relaxed.

BIOPHILIA As humans we crave real life interactions and are drawn to natural forms which is explained through the Biophilia hypothsis- an instinctive bond between humans and nature.

A PERSONAL TOUCH

Personal belongings that are most common like mobile phones, iPads and computers encourage personalisation of other belongings and objects to compensate for the cold hard aesthetic.

SENSORY ENHANCEMENTS

As technology invades we cling onto any kind of tactile interaction, textures become sacred and extinct, robotic like garments are worn to enhance tactile rewards and everyday objects stimulate the senses.

MATERIAL DIRECTION CERAMICS | WOOD | 3D PRINTING | FELT | KNIT

Ceramics appear soft as if made from fabric, creating a level of curiosity and a cause to investigate. Material developments in 3D printing have the ability to be tactile and flexible. Wood replaces everyday interactions and knits and felts are easily manipulated, creating interesting textures and three dimensional effects.
