UTOPIA S|S 15’16 UNEARTHS THE CONTAINMENT OF PLANT LIFE IN ARCHITECTURAL PROJECTS TO QUESTION MANS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. REVERSING THE CURRENT DAMAGE TO THE NATURAL WORLD IT ALSO FOCUSES ON THE PRESERVATION OF OUR CONNECTION TO NATURE THROUGH THE USE OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY. DISCOVERIES OF NEW SPECIES INFLUENCE THE ADAPTATION OF TACTILE AND SENSORY SURFACES WITHIN THE INTERIOR SPACE. CREATING DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURES OF WHICH EXAMIN THE CROSS POLLINATION BETWEEN THE TWO WORLDS. WITH THE OUTLOOK THROUGH LENSES ITS PROVIDING OF AN IMAGINED STATE WHERE ELEMENTS FROM THE OUTDOORS ARE INFUSED INTO INTERIOR PRODUCTS. AN ILLUSIONARY REALM IS ESTABLISHED THROUGH THE DISTORTION OF PHOSPHORESCENT SURFACES AS METALLIC COLOURS ARE KEY THROUGHOUT. CAPTURING NATURE IN ITS PUREST FORM ENABLES OUR VERY OWN UTOPIA TO BE ENCASED INTO PERSONAL SANCTUARIES.

A NEW INTERIOR FOCUS THROUGHOUT THE TREND ENABLES SURFACES TO BECOME AN EXPLORATION OF THIS IMAGINED STATE BY REVEALING INTRICATE LAYERS INSPIRED BY THE DISCOVERIES OF NEW SPECIES. THESE NATURAL FORMS ARE ENCASED IN VARIOUS MATERIALS TO PRESERVE AND RE GROW ELEMENTS FROM THE OUTDOORS INTO THE FOUNDATIONS AND STRUCTURES OF THE INTERIOR SPACE. UNEXPECTED AND UNSEEN THEY CAPTURE MULTI PHOSPHORESCENT COLOURS WITH ELITE METALLICS CREATING A FUTURISTIC AESTHETIC. A TACTILE AND SENSORY EXPERIENCE IS UNEARTHED AS A CLEAN CONTRAST IS DEPICTED BY FUSING COMPONENTS FROM EACH REALM INTO ONE. ESTABLISHING AN ILLUSINARY REALM WHERE BY IRIDESCENT COLOURS TEXTURES AND MATERIALS ARE KEY IN CAMOUFLAGING WITHIN OUR PERSONAL UTOPIA. 19
