Elderly oriented community centre

Highgate, London

Premise

The growing number of suburban communities in the 1950s demonstrated the desire that many Londoners had to establish a secure familial environment. Out site, the highgate station located on the North of London has attracted many young couples to relocate for its convenience of transporation system and adequate green space. However, with the rising crime rate associated with green space, mountainous topography, Inaccessbility of transporation, lack of elderly facilities in the area, highgate no longer become the ideal space for retirement life. In 2023, Population aging is a social phenomenon that exist in various part of the wolrd. And community nursing service become the trend.

The project takes on the idea of community, nature and accessbility to create a elderly-oriented community center for the elderly to spend their days together. Unlike nursing home, the community center encourages elderly to independent use and share the space, and look out for each other. Further on, the design can be an important component within the neighborhood to activate the whole nursing care system.

Premise

Located in a church and community grocery shop ruin, the new home of landmark preservation commission is a coexistence of new and regenerated facade of church ruin. This project aim to offer to a new solution to church ruin and create a spatial typology in which civic life can be emphasized.

The project intentionally confronts the contrast between new and old, vertical and wide, open and enclosed elements, resulting in a complex architecture that promotes open programming and civic space-oriented design. By blending so many spatial variables, the building benefits landmark preservation, community memory, and architecture, creating a space that embraces the challenges and opportunities presented by each of these elements.

Premise

Located in a historical landmark piazza farnesse, the museum of architecture is a space engage civic public of modern Rome, it takes on the issue of idealization and distortion.

The project takes on the idea of nolli plan, experimented with the figure-ground space, it was conceptualized as a sequence oriented project, take on the issue of ideal plan of Villa Sarabahai with its original intention of promote ventilation in India, it deformed and produced a sets of parallel wall to transformed into a project take on open public and private sequence and let the audience freely move within the space. it is a exercise between authenticity and translation.
