BLUE KITCHEN – BACK TO WORK
Pompey in the Community has received funding from the Solent Supporting Employment Grants Programme – which is part funded by the European Social Fund – to provide a free 12-week practical, into work cookery course that will introduce and develop essential skills and techniques, leading to education, training and employment.
The course is primarily aimed at unemployed individuals or those who are socially inactive. They might be complete kitchen novices or perhaps in need of refreshing and updating their previous skills.
With the course covering such diverse elements from kitchen knife skills to CV writing, it will hopefully create a pathway into employment, training, further education or volunteering for those who participate.
As part of the into work element of the course, the charity will offer CV building, basic literacy and numeracy skills, which will be delivered by a member of the qualified teaching staff.
A Job Search club will be established and will be supported online for participants to keep in touch with and be able to access at any time.
If you are in receipt of universal credit, this course will not affect your payments. Interested? Then email gavin.randall@pompeyitc.org.uk for more information and to register. The course runs for 12 weeks and starts in the week commencing April 26.
