— Obituary: Honey’s Journey — Florence “Honey” Fields (Nunley) was born November 2, 1935 in Shelby, Mississippi to the union of the late Katie (Johnson) McKnight and Columbus McKnight. From this union three children were born: Florence, Lonnie McKnight and Lonzo McKnight (both brothers preceded her in death). Florence grew up in Shelby, Mississippi, where she accepted the belief in the One God. This belief she carried throughout her life. “Honey”, as she was lovingly called, worked at Taborian Hospital where she was one of the finest black surgical technicians in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. “Honey” met and fell in love with her life partner, J. C. Fields. They wed on July 21, 1956. From this union six children were born. “Honey” was a dedicated wife and mother that touched everyone she knew. “Honey” departed this life on October 24, 2013. God gave “Honey” a new assignment and she readily accepted. “Honey” leaves to cherish her loving memory: her children, Jesse Clarence Nunley, Jr. (Patricia) of Shelby, Mississippi; Kati Muhammad of Chicago, Illinois; Cynthia Nunley of Chicago, Illinois; Terrell Muhammad (Maryam) of Chicago, Illinois; Kiisha Nunley of Dolton, Illinois; Latasha Muhammad (Marcus) of Riverdale, Illinois; two honorary daughters, Sarah Turner of Matteson, Illinois and Sandra Rushing of Chicago, Illinois; two sisterin-laws, Emma Lee McKnight (Lonnie) of Chicago, Illinois and Gloria Dean McKnight (Lonzo) of Shelby, Mississippi; nine grandsons, five granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews and a beloved cousin, A. J. Whitney; and, her dear friend Lillie Cobb. “Honey” is loved and will truly be missed by many...

The Brightness of the Day The Holy Qur'an, Surah 93: 1-11 In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. 1 By the brightness of the day! 2 And the night when it is still! — 3 Thy Lord has not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased. 4 And surely the latter state is better for thee than the former. 5 And soon will thy Lord give thee so that thou wilt be well pleased. 6 Did He not find thee an orphan and give (thee) shelter? 7 And find thee groping, so He showed the way? 8 And find thee in want, so He enriched thee? 9 Therefore the orphan, oppress not. 10 And him who asks, chide not. 11 And the favour of thy Lord proclaim.

Mom, No Words Could Ever Express Our Love For You Looking back, we can see so many sacrifices you made along the way. Some were small and some were too great to repay, but they were all made without hesitation—because you loved us. As we think of all of our yesterdays, we recall so many times when you turned our tears into laughter, so many problems you helped us to face. You were a shoulder to lean on when we needed you; you were always there—because you loved us. Mom, as we grew older, you couldn’t always be with us, but you were always there in spirit, giving guidance when we needed it, helping us make each decision. You taught us to be strong and to believe in ourselves. You taught us right from wrong—because you loved us... Now, we look back on the years and realize how blessed we have been. You were and are a very special part of our lives. We want to thank you for helping us become the people we are now, for giving us the courage to reach for our dreams. Our lives are rich and our hearts are full—because of you. We love you, Honey ... —Ricky, Robyn, Ann, Terrell, Kiisha and Tasha
