I enjoyed working this group of paintings. My work focuses on the themes of identity, indoor and outdoor places, how we need to root in them. Passionate about the process at the origin of a story, an atmosphere, a behaviour, the ambiguity of feelings, my paintings enable me to understand or make these existential questions visible. In this group, I decided to paint four couples, two trilogies and individual big formats to explore those thoughts, the paintings team up in an interactive way. In the nude paintings, the figures are integrated in the landscape or close to it. By standing there, they record the environment as a place of rooting since nature is alive and comforting. But also as a place of potential danger since nature changes and is unpredictable - like us. In the interior scenes, I am not fundamentally interested in the objects arranged on a table, I am trying to create the presence of a lived place, a domestic atmosphere the, an intimacy, the mark of a person who would live there at the very moment. Playing with colour and superimposed layers, either in transparency or in opaque areas, is my way of giving substance to the story and create space. As a self taught artist, I have an instinctive approach where I work several paintings at the same time to first loose myself and then meticulously order my ideas on different surfaces and sizes. Today I use these tamed steps to let myself be surprised by an unexpected detail that will definitely build the canvas.
