10.45 hrs JAPANESE MANUFACTURING INVESTMENT IN ASEAN: REVIEWS AND STRATEGIC OUTLOOK IN 2011 AND BEYOND” This presentation aims to give an overview of the new investment paradigm in the new economic landscape: what Japanese manufacturers have learnt from the recent economic crisis and strategic outlook for long term sustainability. • The current Japanese economy and a necessary manufacturing restructuring • Main factors driving the rapid growth of Japanese foreign direct investment • Key trends of Japanese manufacturing companies’ overseas operations MR.SEIYA SUKEGAWA VICE PRESIDENT AND SENIOR RESEARCHER THE JAPAN EXTERNAL TRADE ORGANIZATION (JETRO) Mr.Seiya Sukegawa is currently the Vice President and Senior Economist for the Asia region of the Japan External Trade Relations Office (JETRO), a government related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. He is also an eminent member of the Council on East Asian Community, an all-Japan intellectual platform covering business, government, and academic leaders, and aims at the strengthening of intellectual collaboration, the building of intellectual foundation, and the sharing of strategic ideas among the members. He is also a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Economics Research, Chuo University and has published numerous books and articles about ASEAN, regional integration, globalization and free trade agreements.

Mr.Sorachon Boonsong, Partner, Baker & McKenzie Ltd., has joined Baker & McKenzie in 1991 and became a Local Partner in 2001 and Principal Partner in 2007. During his 20 years of practice, Mr. Sorachon has become well-recognized for providing advice and applying his expertise to serve a wide variety of multinational clients, in a broad range of commercial transactions. He served as Deputy Chief Negotiator of Viet Nam-Japan economic partnership agreement in 2007 and 2008, and transferred to Bangkok since June 2009 as Chief Representative for AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee (AMEICC) Secretariat, where he is charged with ASEAN-Japan industrial cooperation in various sectors including automobiles, chemicals, and SMEs.

Mr.Viroj Sirithanasart, President, Thai Tool & Die Industry Association (TDIA), has more than 35 years’ experiences in mold and die industry. After received master degree in MPA from Ramkhamhaeng University, he has established his own businesses in mold and die field while also joining Thai Tool & Die Industry Association (TDIA) since 1994 and become TDIA President in year 2003 until present.
