6. PREHISTORY OF THE IBERIAN PENINSULA CAVE PAINTINGS IN SPAIN
- CANTABRIAN PAINTING: - In the Paleolithic period, art ws done on the walls of caves. - People made colourful and realistic paintings of animals (bisons, deer, horses‌) - They believed that paintings was magical and helped them to hunt well. - Some of the greatest cave paintings in the world were painted at Altamira in Cantabria.
- LEVANTINE PAINTNG: - These paintings were done in just one colour, usually black. - They are simplified representations of human figures and animals. - The show scenes with groups of hunters and anmals.
