Founded by Egyptian-born Gaby Aghion in 1952, Chloé pioneered luxury ready-towear that was all about ease and femininity, o ering an elegant haute bohemian style for the modern, liberated Parisienne. Resolutely contemporary, the house spotted and hired a young Karl Lagerfeld as early as the 1960s: he stayed for over two decades, achieving fame and recognition worldwide through his Chloé work, before Stella McCartney (and her then assistant Phoebe Philo) succeeded him straight out of fashion school.

The World According to Lee McQueen
Louise Rytter
”When times are hard, fantasy and escapism are crucial.”
– Alexander McQueen Having grown up in London’s East End, Alexander McQueen left school at 15 to become a tailor’s apprentice on Savile Row. At 22, he joined the prestigious MA course at Central Saint Martins and, after presenting his 1992 graduate collection (bought on the spot by in uential fashion stylist Isabella Blow), went on to change the course of fashion.
McQueen was de ant in his opinions on creativity (‘Give me time and I’ll give you a revolution’), women (‘I design clothes because I don’t want women to look all innocent and naive ... I want people to be afraid of the women I dress’) and craft (‘You’ve got to know the rules to break them. That’s what I’m here for, to demolish the rules but to keep the tradition’).
Featuring specially commissioned illustrations, this cloth-bound book with elegant foil-blocking is a must-have for fashion lovers.

The Surreal World of Elsa Schiaparelli
Marie-Sophie Carron de la Carriere Elsa Schiaparelli (1890-1973) was a key gure in Paris fashion between the two World Wars. Following in the footsteps of her mentor Paul Poiret, she designed her rst knitwear collection in January 1927. In 1935, the Maison Schiaparelli opened in the Place Vendome in Paris.
Like her arch-rival Gabrielle Chanel, Schiaparelli also worked closely with artists, including Man Ray, Jean Cocteau and Salvador Dali. Taking a cue from Surrealism, her creations were hugely imaginative and made use of innovative new materials.
• Illustrates all 120 garments and accessories from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs’ Schiaparelli archive, along a selection of her drawings dating from 1933 to 1953. • Includes scene-setting vintage photographs, sketches and contemporary features from Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.
