EXIST

The world in this modern-day may seem like a place for one races, which is the human race. However the ecosystem consist of many different types of living organism supporting one another, the increasing population mean that more forest is being invaded to create houses and farmland instead. Many animals species have suffered from the birth of new city due to the fact that it is in their natural habit to migrate from one place to another, it is either they go through the city and exposes to risk and danger or take a new route. This force many animals and insects to change their natural habitat, which affects the ecosystem in a large area.

In this project, we introduce the concept of co-living where animal habitat is placed within man-made structure, the pieces are portrait as a shelter for the animal where they can rest safely on their journey. This will also increase the green area of the city acting as a bridge connecting other living organisms to human. The location of these structures maybe various some as design are a part of a city, some are placed in a more remote area. Though this benefits both sides, human can use these shelter to observe other animal and insect species, even for educational purpose. In the term of sustainability, the structure is a machine of living that can keep itself from running without needing power, making a city more sustain in the long term. The project may host various species but the monarch butterfly, sea turtle, and white stork bird are the three main species are chosen to be emphasis on the design. These three species are difference in most aspect but have one characteristic that connects all of them to the design that is their habit of long immigration habits and importance to the ecosystem. For example the monarch butterfly play a big role in pollinating flower and plants.

Oil Rig Marine

The project is a renovation of an abandoned oil rig, once the area has run out resources these rigs are often left to deteriorate over time. The project offers to renovate the structure into a marine centre, without having to spend too much since most of the mainframe still remain. The underwater net like platform will be home to coral reef and marine life, while glass plates will be installed to the existing structure for observing marine life. Overlaying each net like platform on top of each other also help to The oil rigs can act as a shelter for migrating sea turtle to rest before continuing their long journey. The top platform is transformed by planting more trees making it into a new safe haven for bird immigrating.

BIRD-NEST TOWER

The structure is fuse as part of the city skyscraper, this mimics the benefits of a tree. One advantage that most birds have over it predator is their ability to nest high in the tree protecting themselves from any ground level predator. Birds are one of the most active species of animal in terms of migrating, for example, the white stork bird travel annually from Africa to Europe. The structure act as a tree since now a day there are not enough tree for birds to rest during their journey of immigration. In the future, there will be laws that state every building must have at least a safe green space for animals to stay.

Treeline Highway

The structure has inspired from the monarch butterfly original habitat, every year thousand and thousand of monarch butterfly migrates from the north to the south during winter time toward warmer weather. Monarch butterfly main food are milkweed plant which greatly reduces due to the heavy agriculture, and because many big cities is in their migration path most butterfly did not survive this rough journey. In the future public transportation will be more popular and convenient there will be less construction of the highway. The project introduces a renovation of an abandoned highway rebuilding the top to be a green road which accessible to animals and insect. The animal may use this path to travel, rest, or even relocate in any area of this highway. Since it is a highway it is separated from the ground level which makes it less accessible to human but still available to other species.
