INSTITUTIONAL AND PROGRAMME MISSION STATEMENT ď Ž

ď Ž

Assessment planning begins with the institutional and programme mission statement. The institutional mission statement describes the industries, service organization, government sectors, research and development laboratories, entrepreneurs that are served, institutional vision and other characteristics that define the institution.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES ď Ž

ď Ž

Programme objectives are statements that describe the expected achievements / accomplishments of graduates during 3 to 5 years after graduation. These objectives should be consistent with the mission of the programme and the institution.

ASSESS AND EVALUATE PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES 

Programme objectives need to be assessed and evaluated periodically. This could be done through alumni, immediate super ordinate of the employee, recruiters, representatives of professional organizations. The programme objectives should be evaluated on systematic basis to determine their continued relevance to the needs of constituents. This evaluation should be done every 3 – 5 years.

LEARNING OUTCOMES ď Ž

ď Ž

Learning outcomes are statements that describe what learners are expected to know and / or be able to do by the time of graduation. If learners / participants have achieved the outcomes, it is anticipated that they will be able to achieve the programme objectives after graduation.

ACQUISITION PRACTICES / STRATEGIES ď Ž

ď Ž

Understanding the alignment between acquisition practices and strategies promotes efficient and effective assessment practices. This could be accomplished by mapping acquisition strategies which could include industrial training, seminars, projects, cocurricular activities to learning outcomes.

FEEDBACK FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE ď Ž

ď Ž

The feedback process is critical to creating and maintaining a systematic quality assurance system. When successfully implemented, all elements of the quality assurance process interact with one another.
