PROJECT PROPOSAL
On March 6 2018, the world received its first look at what is arguably the most anticipated new car in the last 15 years, the Toyota Supra. My name is James Wilkins, I am a Graphic Designer, Student, National motorsport competitor and car enthusiast. The previous generation Toyota Supra is one of the most popular vehicles in the car community. It is one of the best bases for car modification and is renowned for its performance, looks, and strength. There are not many cars which are increasing in popularity, even 16 years after production ceased. However, Toyota recently revealed its first taste of the 2019 Toyota Supra with its racing concept by Gazoo Racing. Since this release there have been hundreds of articles published around the world and the internet has not stopped talking about it. When Toyota finally reveals its road going Supra, it will be one of the most talked about subjects across all platforms. Magazines, Television shows, online articles, News channels, all social media platforms. The world will be focused on the Supra.
So why am I telling you this? Well, I have a proposition that will allow anybody involved to harness all of the publicity, emotions, fame and recognition being carried with the Toyota Supra wave in the media.
The Project The proposed project will be the first of its kind in the world and will immediately receive international coverage across all magazines, social media platforms, online media, television, etc. As you may have guessed, the project will be featuring the new 2019 Supra. Taking the first available car in the country and making it into something even more spectacular. The plan is to create the first modified Toyota Supra in the world. Taking the hype and popularity from the release of the vehicle and magnifying it by creating a Supra with higher performance and a modified interior and exterior. A car which will stand out in any
crowd, and be noticed by every car enthusiast around the world. This project will quickly become the centre of attention among the car community and as soon as it is finished, will likely be invited to attend various high profile car shows and events internationally. The project itself will be very time sensitive, as other custom shops or individuals may be trying to do the exact same thing as us. This is why I am contacting you now. In order for this project to be a success, it is essential that work begins immediately. Although the car has not yet been released, there is still a significant amount of organising that must be completed to ensure that the main component of the project can begin as soon as possible. The purpose of this proposal is to gain interest and gather companies who may be interested in making it a possibility. From major supporters, performance and body shops, to signage suppliers.
Everything must be organised before the car is released into the market so that work is completed in the shortest possible time, giving us the greatest advantage against anybody else who is trying to achieve the same goal. The amount of exposure and popularity that this project will receive cannot be predicted. It can however be guaranteed that the first person to do this will be internationally renowned, along with any and all of their supporters. The publicity of this car will be ongoing for years. No matter how many people modify their new Toyota Supra in the future, we will always be the first and will be marked in history along with the legendary Toyota Supra itself. The first step I am taking is reaching out to you and your company. If you are interested in having your company name exposed to millions of people around the world, car enthusiast or not. To have your name at the front of people’s minds for years to come. Being
associated with one of the most iconic car brands and models in history, while making history out of it. This is the first and last time an opportunity like this will ever be possible, and not one that you want to regret not being a part of.
The Plan As soon as interest has been received from one or more major parties, I will begin the next necessary steps in organisation of the project. This will consist of contacting a number of the most reputable mechanic, performance, exterior and interior workshops in the country. Each business will be presented with a project proposal and be given the chance to provide concept work and quotes for the time frame required to complete it. The most attractive offer(s) will receive the opportunity to complete the work. From here, the next step will be either waiting for the car to be released, or arranging to get the
car acquired as soon as possible. While organising with each workshop/business to know where the car will need to be, when, and for how long, to make sure the build is as efficient as possible. Following this it will simply be a matter of extremely effective time management to ensure the build is finished as soon as possible, as well as managing the overall project, press, social media, etc. Plus organising where, when and how the project will be released.
Project Insight As someone who grew up watching the Fast and Furious films and playing Need for Speed as a kid, I have always been attracted to modified and performance vehicles. One car in particular though, the Toyota Supra, soon became a favourite of mine. One specific model of Supra, the JZA80 (MKIV) has been the most popular “tuner� car in
the last 25 years. With such an iconic design paired with the 2JZ engine, renowned for being a very strong and durable motor, the Supra was and is the perfect platform for customisation. For more than half my life I have dreamed of owning the Supra, until recently when I finally purchased a 1997 Toyota Supra RZ-S. Since then my passion for the car and brand has grown even stronger. As soon as I heard that Toyota was going to bring the Supra back, I knew that the car community was going to go mad. I’ve seen thousands of posts and articles from people speculating, trying to make predictions about the car. The amount of publicity the new Supra has received before it was even announced as a concept is incredible. When I saw how popular the car was already getting, I knew this would be the perfect platform for a project like this. There may never again be an opportunity to
take a brand new car, fresh from its release, and receive such an enormous amount of exposure.
This is the first and last time an opportunity like this will ever be possible. The idea for this project is to take the totally new 2019 Toyota Supra, and be the first in the world to turn it into a high performance, heavily modified vehicle. The car will feature a completely custom body kit all the way around the car, custom head and tail lights, a new custom paint job and decals featuring logos of all companies involved, turning the already stunning design into something extraordinary. The interior will receive custom seating, colouring, lighting and extra details, finishing the build off. A Little Bit More Before moving to Australia from England 10 years ago, James competed in Cycle Speedway (bicycle racing on short oval dirt tracks), capturing multiple podiums, including third in the British under 10’s Grand Prix. More recently, he has combined study and motorsport. Starting out in karts as a 15-year old in 2012, James eventually won several state-based category titles and club championships, working his way up to the prestigious Rotax Pro Tour and was ranked among the top 10 in Australia. James took a step forward in his motorsport career by moving into the Toyota 86 Racing Series for its
the supporters of this project, I would love to turn it into the “older brother” of the new 2019 Supra. Having the two matching cars would provide even more opportunities and allow the project to gain greater publicity, pulling in all fans of the old and new Supra. I’m certain that any company who decides to partner with me in making this a reality will not regret it. debut year in 2016. Since then he has developed greatly as a driver, moving from top 20 positions in 2016 to battling for the podium at the first ever Newcastle Supercars event in 2017. James has shown his talent on multiple occasions, at events where competitors are not able to have an advantage of track knowledge, his ability has allowed him to qualify and race with some of the fastest lap times in the field. He is very confident that given the opportunity to compete in higher profile categories, he would perform extremely well. This drive and passion is what makes him an ideal partner in any project and what will see him succeed in his field.
