The last piece of the puzzle For many families, finding the perfect place to call home is a great achievement. For the Micciche family, it was the final piece in their ‘puzzle’ of becoming Australian citizens. Bruno, his wife Carole and their two children were among the first residents to move into Kaduna Park last month, and they couldn’t be happier. Originally from the United Kingdom, the family moved to south east Melbourne eight years ago, as they believed it would be well-suited to their young family. Bruno believes they “made the right choice” with Kaduna Park. “Officer is growing and it looks like Kaduna Park will be really stunning. We are very lucky to be one of the first families to move into the estate. We’re very excited to start living there,” said Bruno.

Desiring a permanent home close to Berwick, where the family had rented, Bruno and Carole found Kaduna Park in February last year and decided to build with Simonds. He says their move to Officer’s newest land estate couldn’t have been better.

The experience with Kaduna Park was perfect. Bruno Micciche, Kaduna Park Resident

“First, we had contact with our builder, Simonds, who directed us to Rebecca from Parklea for the land. We then received regular contact from the Parklea team about everything — from when the land would be titled to when we were able to start visiting our site. Overall, it has been quite a positive experience. We would absolutely, without a doubt recommend purchasing and building at Kaduna Park.” Bruno says resident activities and events, such as the Kaduna Park Family Picnic and the Easter egg hunt earlier this year, have been a great way to meet neighbours and to help build a “family environment” within the new estate.

“We have started meeting our neighbours, who we first made friends with on Facebook. We’re all sharing our experiences — it seems to be really positive,” said Bruno. The family is looking forward to completing their front garden in the next three months in order to claim Parklea’s landscaping rebate. Further down the track, Bruno hopes to see more pathways and tracks around the estate, so he is able to train for marathons and triathlons. One day, he would love to start a Kaduna Park residents’ running group. The family know it may take some time for the estate to be fully established, but they are keen to see the end result. For now, they are thrilled to be in their “final home”, which Bruno says is an exciting chapter in their story. From attaining a temporary visa to becoming Australian citizens, the final goal for the family was to build their own home. “For us, this house is a way of becoming fully Australian. We are citizens, but having the house being built — our own house — is the last piece of the

Finding new hiding places

puzzle of becoming fully Australian, of our Australian journey. It’s really exciting for us. We made it here! We want to name our house ‘Newleaf’ because, for us, it’s a new age — turning a new leaf or page in our history.” TO FIND OUT MORE about purchasing land in Kaduna Park, contact the Kaduna Park sales team on 1300 523 862, visit www.kadunapark.com.au or email info@kadunapark.com.au.

The kids are moving out, old friends are leaving the neighbourhood, and suggestions of shifting to a more manageable, affordable home have drifted into dinner conversations. But downsizing needn’t be associated with a step down. Melbourne’s growing population of over 50s are taking matters into their own hands and seizing the opportunity to enjoy a bigger, more vibrant lifestyle than in their large suburban homes with kids to keep them busy. Janet, a homeowner in Lifestyle Brookfield, told us recently how much her life had changed since moving. She explained, “There’s always someone to talk to. I’ve made some close friends here, and I wasn’t someone who used to be good at mixing.”

In September 2018, Lifestyle Communities launched its latest over 50s community in Officer South, within Parklea’s Kaduna Park Estate. With 18 different homes to choose from and prices starting at $250,000, Lifestyle Kaduna Park offers affordable access to a luxury lifestyle in a thriving community. Margaret Clayton, a Lifestyle Berwick Waters homeowner, explained there was so much going on in her new community, she actually found work was getting in the way of her social life! “When I first moved in, I was on holiday for two weeks. Then, when I went back to work, I resigned.” Lifestyle Kaduna Park will offer 5-star resort-style facilities set in fully landscaped gardens and a dog park for four-legged residents. Homeowners will enjoy

exclusive access to a multi-million-dollar clubhouse with an indoor heated pool, cinema, gym, billiards room, library and computer centre, bowling green, croquet court, alfresco BBQ dining space and a community bus. There will even be a pickleball court, and if you’re not sure what that is, hours of fun await you! An onsite community management team will oversee the day-to-day running of the community. Built by Todd Devine Homes, all Lifestyle Communities are contemporary homes featuring quality fixtures and fittings, landscaped gardens and split-system heating and cooling. Front gardens are maintained by the community gardener, leaving homeowners more time to do what they love. Residents can enjoy yoga, aerobics classes, dancing and woodwork, or attend wellness seminars and social events in their spare time. But, according to Lifestyle Berwick Waters homeowners Allan and Judith Breasley, living the life you deserve is about much more than wonderful facilities and activities: “It’s the sense of neighbourhood — like when we were young.” IMAGE Margaret and Peggy – from nearby Lifestyle Berwick Waters. > WATCH A Day in the Life of Bella at Lifestyle Lyndarum: https://youtu.be/fd6myw56WCM

The Robert Gordon Story Inspired by his mother, renowned Australian potter June Dyson, Robert ‘Andy’ Gordon developed a strong love and niche for pottery in his early twenties. Andy Gordon created his first studio back in 1979 in a small tin shed where he and his wife Barbara first set about creating their dream. Following in the family’s footsteps, Andy and Barbara had a vision to expand, and along came their four children, who continue to play an integral part in the growth and future of Robert Gordon Pottery. A huge component of Robert Gordon Pottery is the relationship they hold with the hospitality industry, which they have been supplying with high-fired, durable and fully vitrified stoneware for over 25 years. They have supplied to clients across the world as well as reputable restaurants throughout Australia, and from this have built longlasting working relationships that have turned into friendships with trusted top chefs. These relationships form part of Robert Gordon’s reputation for professionalism and humility in a working environment where they provide durability and custom designs across the board. The design process involves collaborations between many different sources, including the Gordon family, staff and, most importantly, the clients. The Robert Gordon team has a commitment to craft, where they illustrate a large and detailed process which entails the use of traditional and modern tools that have spanned across the years to reach their end goal. The Pottery takes huge pride in manufacturing

Australian-made products that have been passed through the hands of skilled craftspeople that continue to represent more than 60 years of heritage. Manufacturing in Australia also provides Robert Gordon with a wide range of flexibility. This flexibility allows them to regularly monitor production and make alterations as required to create quality products for their customers. Robert Gordon staff are there every step of the way, from the initial talks to the design and the presentation of the final product. The Pottery recently launched its handcrafted basin collection. After almost two years of sampling, this collection features three unique basin designs developed by the Pottery’s own Bobby Gordon, also an architect, and master mould-maker Glauco. The new collection is a rare delight amongst mass-produced bathroom fixtures, with the new basins featuring unmistakable signs of handcraftsmanship.

Authentically Australian

Each basin is designed and developed on-site, finished by hand and glazed in Robert Gordon’s beautiful reactive glazes, highlighting their handmade look and feel. The collection includes both slip cast and pressed finishes, and is available now. From supplying small products to local markets to now producing quality ceramics for reputable organisations worldwide, Robert Gordon Pottery has evolved dramatically since the small tin shed back in 1979. Nowadays at Robert Gordon, there is a workshop area where visitors can paint their own pottery, a kitchen serving delicious breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, and of course an outlet, selling unique samples and seconds at discounted prices. With over 30 hard-working employees, as well as the knowledge and wisdom that has been passed down through generations, this has all shaped Robert Gordon Pottery and will be integral to its evolution over the coming years. robertgordonaustralia.com

LIVE. WORK. PLAY. Timbertop’s Egg-cellent Easter Hunt

Become a member timbertopestate.com.au/residents

The Easter spirit was alive and well at Timbertop earlier this year as over 100 children and their families enjoyed our annual Easter egg hunt at Hicks Reserve. The beautiful weather enabled many families to catch up with neighbours while their kids played together in the reserve and on the playground after the hunt. The Easter Bunny and the Timbertop Residents’ Group Committee hid a record number of eggs in the garden and up the hill, but the children certainly had sharp hunting skills, as all of the eggs were found in record time! It was wonderful to see some sharing their eggs with others who may not have found as many. The colouring competition was also a hit, with entries from several children and some adults, too! After careful consideration, the winners were Dylan T (0-4yrs), Nicola H (5-9yrs), Anine (10-16yrs) and Bec H (16+yrs). Coles Eden Rise generously sponsored this year’s event, donating all of the eggs found throughout the hunt. Thanks to the many families who attended the hunt and the Timbertop Residents’ Group Committee who made it such a wonderful event. We hope next year’s hunt will be just as much fun!
