Residents will enjoy the best of country and community living with untouched rural surrounds and existing schools, shopping and entertainment all on their doorstep. There’s something for families of all sizes with blocks up to 700m2 with little to no fall for an easy build. Since its launch just four years ago, Timbertop has grown quickly to become Officer’s premier estate, with hundreds of families now enjoying their new lifestyle in this vibrant community. Approximately 600 lots have sold so far, with the popular Westerly Release comprising the last available blocks on the west side of the estate. Each year the number of titled lots has grown as the estate has developed. 163 lots have been titled so far this year, up from 126 in 2016. 350 homes are now occupied, which equates to around 1,100 people currently enjoying life at the top! In the past year Timbertop has seen some exciting developments, including the completion
of Hicks Reserve and works on the wetlands in front of the Timber Mill Café, adding to the beauty of the estate. Residents are already enjoying the playground and barbeque facilities and going on walks around the new parklands. Another reason Timbertop continues to grow is its friendly community feel. As more families move into their new homes at Timbertop, they are quickly getting to know their neighbours with the Residents’ Group running regular community events throughout the year. Timbertop really is a place where families can come alive.

Timbertop Wetlands update The wetlands at Timbertop are steadily progressing with works complete on the retarding basin and landscaping to commence soon. The retarding basin civil improvement works are now complete on the Princes Highway frontage at Timbertop. This is a major milestone for the project. Parklea has completed the works on behalf of Melbourne Water. The basin manages stormwater flow from Timbertop and surrounding estates while also improving water quality.
Work will now be undertaken by the neighbouring developer (corner of Bayview Road) to connect their stormwater into this basin. This will involve boring and some open excavation adjacent to the kiln. A contractor has been appointed to landscape the area which will encompass approximately 60,000 tube stock. These works
will be undertaken at the end of the summer period and we anticipate that the landscaping works will take around three months to complete. Some footpath works and fitness equipment will be provided to the north of the reserve. Footpath works are also planned along the Princes Highway between the bus stop and the kiln site.

Meet the builders Farren Ray – Building Consultant Before starting his current role with Homebuyers Centre, Farren was a midfielder in the AFL for 13 years, playing for the Western Bulldogs, St Kilda and North Melbourne. Now he brings his passion for property and natural coaching ability to help customers build their dream home. What sets Homebuyers Centre apart from other builders? Our three step process. We focus on finance first, land second and home third. A lot of clients look at homes first because that’s the exciting part, but once you understand how much they can spend, the process becomes much easier. The second thing that sets us apart is our standard inclusions. How do you help clients with their home building journey?
It’s quite an extensive process, building a home so we try to make it as easy as possible. We coach clients through the three step process and that’s where my football background comes in — coaching, teaching and nurturing, that comes naturally to me. Contact Farren 0431 046 132 farren@homebuyerscentre.com.au
It can be a pretty daunting process walking into a display village. My main approach is to build rapport with people and gain their trust.
Philippa Marshall – Building Consultant While working with customers at Timbertop Estate’s display village Philippa saw the calibre of the estate and recently decided to purchase land at Parklea’s new estate in Officer South, Kaduna Park. What appealed to you about Kaduna Park? The farmland around the estate gives it a rural feel. Also having watched what Parklea has done with Timbertop Estate, we were really impressed with the facilities and thought process that went into it, and for us the hope is that Kaduna Park will be similar to what they’ve done here at Timbertop. What is your approach to assisting first home buyers? When my partner and I bought our first house, there wasn’t really anyone you could go to for help and we felt a bit lost. One of the first things I say to first home buyers is to ask me questions and use me as an information source. When clients sign up I don’t just help them with the building process, I try to make sure I help them with everything from the conveyancer, understanding stamp duty, inclusions – all of those extra bits and pieces.
What is the most common piece of advice you give customers? When you walk around display villages, you see so many houses that they all start blurring into one. I tell customers to first find a builder that you like — you like the inclusions, the size of the company, you talked to someone at the display home you feel that you click with, and then it’s almost guaranteed you’ll find a plan that you like with that builder. It simplifies things. Contact Philippa 0433 305 914 philippa@sjdhomes.com.au

Third generation Facey reflects on 100 years in property Since 1917, the Facey family has had a profound impact on real estate, business and property development in Melbourne’s South East. 100 years on, Andrew Facey, founder of prominent development company Parklea is the third generation of the Facey real estate empire. Andrew’s grandfather Frank started Frank Facey Real Estate in 1917 in Dandenong, passing the business down to his son Angus in the 30s before Andrew took the reigns in the 1974. The business began in residential real estate before branching into commercial and residential agencies in the 1980s. The commercial arm is known today as Facey Industrial Commercial, which is still based in Dandenong. The residential business, First National Real Estate Neilson Partners, is now based in Narre Warren. As Facey turns 100, former employees are reflecting on the legacy of the family on the area. Brendan Rice, Director and Partner of Frank Facey Real Estate from 1972 to 1983 and close friend of Andrew, said the Faceys have always been respected in the community. “When Angus [Facey] said something you always knew to stop and listen,” he said. “He was very well respected throughout the community as a person of great integrity. Facey was known as a company you could trust. When he started

to let Andrew and I run the business we weren’t very old; in 1975 I was 30 and Andrew was younger than I. Angus would pull us up every now and then and keep us in line.”
“Parklea has enough parcels of land to develop for 20+ years yet I could confidently predict that we will be making an arrangement to buy something else within a year or so.”
“Andrew was a gun salesman. Dandenong was starting to boom and there were lots of subdivisions, so Andrew became the go-to man.” After many years selling property and directing Frank Facey Real Estate, Andrew’s interest turned to property development and in 1974, Parklea was born. Parklea is now the largest broadacre land owner in the Cardinia Shire and has residential and commercial developments from Gippsland to the Great Ocean Road.
While 100 years in real estate is certainly worth celebration, Andrew Facey is looking to the future. “My family has seen a lot of changes over the past century,” said Facey.
Recent local developments include Timbertop Estate, Officer, Arena Shopping Centre, Officer and Heritage Springs, Pakenham. The developer is continuing to change the face of the Cardinia Shire with future developments planned including Kaduna Park, the first residential estate in Officer South, set to launch in the coming months. Accountant for Parklea and Facey since 1986, Frank Barrett, describes working for Andrew as ‘dynamic’. “He does not let an opportunity go by – he cannot sit still, metaphorically,” he said.
The population in Melbourne’s South East is booming with thousands of families making their home here. I’m proud to be a part of building new communities during this exciting period of growth. Andrew Facey Owner of Parklea Find out more about Parklea’s latest developments at parklea.com
