I started my first fashion business when I was 19 years old, turning a tiny studio into a 9000 sq foot factor y with 50 employees within 5 years. I’ve spent years in New York City working with talented designers on how to market their skills, build their sourcing and manufacturing networks and launch their fashion lines. At The Cut Fashion Design Academy, we are dedicated to provide the skills and experience that will help students find their place in the world of fashion.

LIZA DEYRMENJIAN, Founder, The Cut Fashion Academy ( Vancouver - Canada)

OUR STORY The Cutting Room and The Cut Fashion Design Academy, owned by apparel and production expert, Liza Deyrmenjian, were born in Vancouver as a result of 30 years in the fashion and apparel industry. The Academy is located in the beautiful neighbourhood of Kitsilano, birthplace of global yoga brand, lululemon athletica and just over the Burrard Bridge from downtown Vancouver. Our state-of-the-art studio is bright, open and comfortable for working on all of your projects. With access to cutting tables, sewing machines and gerber stations seven days a week you will be able to take your assignments to a whole new level. The studio is accessible by public transportation from any part of the city. The Cut Fashion Design Academy, is how we envision real world education. Our students learn at The Cutting Room, a work-learn space where full time and part time Fashion Design Students learn in an environment where established brands product develop and produce, including our in-house brand, Object Local. A small class size of 6 allows for individual attention, where we provide an industry-level professional environment and the opportunity for students to learn the necessary specialized skills through hands-on training.

Vancouver ’s fashion scene has been growing exponentially in the last decade. Thanks to big-time clothing manufacturers coming to Vancouver, local designers have gotten a big break. The city is attracting aspiring entrepreneurs and designers from other parts of Canada and the rest of world. The success of Canadian brands such as Lululemon, Aritzia, Oak & Fort, Smash & Tess, Brunette, Dish & Duer, and Gentle Fawn is inspiring many young designers, and has made Vancouver a shopping destination for locals and tourists alike.

O U R L O C AT I O N KITSILANO Kitsilano, known locally as Kits, is synonymous with famous Kits Beach—named one of the "top 10 best city beaches in the world" by international travel magazines, and per fect for outdoor fitness. This area of Vancouver brings together a collection of attractions, beach and parks, residential streets, and a couple of main commercial districts. It is also one of the city's organic-food hubs and has extensive restaurants and designer stores along West 4th Avenue and West Broadway. Kitsilano runs along the south shore of English Bay, between popular Granville Island and Point Grey. With the tall mountains and scenic beaches surrounding our studio, we can guarantee you will feel inspired, while studying at The Cut Fashion Design Academy. VANCOUVER Vancouver is a coastal seaport city in western Canada located in the Lower Mainland region of the province of British Columbia. The Greater Vancouver area is the third-largest metropolitan area, and the one with the highest population density in Canada. Vancouver is consistently named as one of the top five worldwide cities for livability and quality of life, and the first city ranked among the top-ten of the world's most well-living cities for five consecutive years.

The Gerber Full Time Module was incredibly thorough. I learned the software as well as how to pattern make, grade, create markers, and calculate efficiencies. I had over 12 hours a week of time on the Gerber system which is unheard of at any other school. I love The Cut, it far exceeded my expectations. The teachers are amazing the atmosphere is real and encouraging. Highly recommend.

I took the beginner and intermediate Gerber classes at the Cutting Room. Both courses were amazing, and significantly helpful! The small class sizes allowed me to get the attention I needed to really grasp the software. This lifted the company I work for out of a primitive & manual way of pattern making, and really took our production to another level. Working closely under industr y experts really helped me to understand ver y quickly, whereas I don’t think my progress would have been equaled in any traditional school setting. The Cutting Room team and teachers were knowledgeable, and accommodating.
