FOREWORD
FOREWORD It has been a long time coming, and we are delighted to welcome you to the first inperson event in Houston since the start of the pandemic. This would not have been possible without our advisory board, including our medical advisory Dr Kenneth Stanley, distinguished speakers, supporting partners and of course, our dedicated sponsors who return year-on-year for EIC Connect Energy USA. This is actually our third EIC Connect Energy USA this year! We delivered a preview in January with our distinguished advisory board donating their valuable time to provide key updates to EIC members, and delivered EIC Connect Energy USA in March. At that time, speakers provided a very clear picture of where we were one year into the pandemic. A key theme was successfully navigating the energy transition across all sectors; and of course, it was not a one size fits all route. Speakers discussed aspects such as scopes towards net-zero and what that will mean for the supply chain, integrating renewables, the hydrogen rainbow, adopting CCUS, local content, diversity and inclusion, and all things ESG, the digitalisation of things and data, demand for talent where a belief in energy transition is a requirement at all levels.

Amanda Duhon Regional Director, North & Central America
It was clear that much will depend on investment, and US federal and state policies; and at the heart of this will be the supply chain’s capability to lead industry in this journey. And this journey will take place across the energy sector; oil and gas will be a central enabler towards energy transition and achieving net-zero. So, what’s next? What is the reality for our industry on this journey to reduce carbon emissions and meet the 2050 target? EIC Connect Energy USA 2.0 will kick-off with a VIP breakfast sponsored by Merrimac International where Elm Valle, director of global supply chain for Dril-Quip will deliver a keynote address. Sponsors, speakers, partners and advisory board will join this working breakfast to discuss the US energy market, key challenges and opportunities, roles within the value chain, and attempt to define what the ‘reality’ actually is for the US. We are honoured to be joined by speakers across the energy sectors involved in key regional projects. The panel discussion The Energy Kaleidoscope, will welcome speakers Ing. Paul Sullivan, senior vice president global LNG & FLNG for Worley, Laurent Pagnon, VP digital & new business ventures for TechnipFMC, Sam Thigpen, CEO for Sapphire Gas Solutions, Michael Olsen, vice president, policy & government affairs for Aker Offshore Wind and Paula Fitzpatrick, VP, growth & development conventional energy for Wood. This session will focus on what various companies, and those in various roles are doing to address energy transition and net-zero now, and in the future.
FOREWORD
The day will close over afternoon coffee with a ‘fire-side chat’ with our advisory board chair, Mary McIntyre, managing director – Merrimac International Executive Search and advisory board conference chair Justin Hoffman, CEO for cSolutions. Considering presentations throughout the day, our speakers will address some key aspects of the changing dynamic of our industry, the net-zero timeline and the oil and gas and new energy’s role for the energy transition. For further information on the agenda see page 4, and to view speaker biographies, see page 14. And today is just the first part of EIC Connect Energy USA 2.0, as we take our highly sought-after supplier briefing sessions and one-to-one meetings online next month. Delegates have the opportunity to hear from EPCs, contractors and operators about their views of current market conditions, near and future opportunities, procurement processes including pre-qualification, registration, key contacts and major contracts coming out for tender in the next two years, standardisation, local content, net-zero ambitions, energy transition strategies and more during the briefing sessions. Company briefing sessions allow delegates to learn firsthand from operators and contractors how to position themselves to win business in the US. This year, the briefing sessions will be held online on the week commencing 11 October. We look forward to seeing you there virtually. Last year felt like a shock moment, followed by a period of adjustment, acceptance, and adaptation. While we have a long road ahead of us, I am confident that deals will continue to be signed and activity will continue to increase.
With this being said, I remind our members to take full advantage of their benefits. Whether you are focused on CAPEX or OPEX, EICDataStream and EICAssetMap provide up-to-date project lifecycle or O&M opportunities globally.
