Inside this issue
As we reach the half-way point in 2021 and following the successful Energy Exports Conference last month, there is a feeling of Mark Risleysatisfaction and optimism here at the EIC for the summer months ahead.
We were delighted to welcome 3,000 delegates from over 1,000 energy supply chain companies to our flagship event from 14 to 17 June, and the feedback we have received so far has been fantastic.
With such a packed speaker line-up, it was hard to pinpoint my favourite session, however the closing keynote industry plenary session has to top it for me. Hearing from senior executives at Scandinavian energy giants Ørsted, Equinor, Aker Solutions and Nel Hydrogen talk so candidly about energy transition and how countries in the North Sea region can become a world-leader in these emerging technologies was fascinating and inspiring in equal measure. Energy transition has certainly been the buzzword of recent years, but we feel proud to have put on an event that made the term not just a soundbite, but highlighted real, actionable project opportunities in the US, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
If you missed the event, or want to rewatch some of the top sessions, you can still purchase an Access Premium ticket on the EIC website where all of the sessions can be viewed at your leisure.

With such a huge event now behind us, we can look ahead to the remaining six months of the year. Our first physical event in 16 months took place on 28 June, a networking event in Abu Dhabi. With demand high for a return to safe, structured physical events, we hope to bring you more like this in the coming months in the countries where it is safe and legal to do so, upholding the highest of health and safety measures to ensure a safe environment for attendees and staff.
The EIC Connect series will also return later in the summer, with events in the US and Qatar confirmed and several more being planned.
The EIC Awards will also feature in the latter stages of the year, and we will have more news on the format of the prestigious annual awards ceremony very soon. In this month’s issue of Inside Energy, EIC Energy Analyst Wan Afiq explores the Saudi Arabia solar PV market and the future of clean energy in the Kingdom. In the Spotlight on Technology feature, we spoke to Glacier Energy Services about their new heat exchanger digital monitoring solution.
