Last month we delivered our second successful EIC Connect, Energy Mexico, in Mexico City. Speakers and one-to-one host companies included Arendal, BHP Billiton, Department for International Trade, GrupoR, ICA Fluor, iPS Powerful People, McDermott, Modec, Premier Oil, Scottish Development International, Subsea 7, Transocean, Turner & Townsend, UK Export Finance and Wood, all of whom added great insight into the future of oil and gas in Mexico. The event received over 100 delegates and took place within the margins of a successful trade delegation to Mexico which the EIC delivered in partnership with the Department for International Trade and Scottish Development International.

The future of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market looks promising, with US$263bn in investment expected across active and future projects. Later this month the EIC North & Central America office will host its first LNG sector update with key US industry players in discussions regarding the outlook of the LNG market, the growth of LNG demand, and potential opportunities for the supply chain. NY to solicit 1GW of offshore wind in 2020

The governor of New York has announced that the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority is planning to hold a second solicitation for at least 1GW of offshore wind power in 2020. It will be a major step towards achieving New York’s 70% Renewable Portfolio Standard by 2030 and target of 9GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2035.

Mexico will not host new oil auctions in 2020

Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has said that Mexico is not planning to host oil and gas auctions in 2020; citing the 110 previously awarded contracts to oil majors in previous bid rounds. He noted Mexico first needs to see results through investment and production.
