Langley Cornerstones Partnership Prospectus The Crossroads Building: Forging Strategic Partnerships with Our Business Community

The Next Generation Campaign The Langley School’s new Crossroads Building will physically embody and enable us to carry out the educational and communal values that make us who we are. Our students deserve the best possible resources to create meaningful, dynamic, learning-rich lives. The Next Generation Campaign seeks to construct a state-of-the-art learning center to fully support our continually evolving program and to increase our endowment to a total of $10 million. In the Crossroads Building, community members of all ages will cross paths and learn from each other. This creative, generative space will house three programs that are critical and unique to Langley’s mission:

The Primary School

The new Primary School’s large, flexible, sunlit classrooms – closely connected to the outdoors – will empower teachers and students like never before. The movement area and performance stage are special features of the space.

The Fifth Grade

A pivotal year in Langley’s Arc of Development, fifth grade is a hallmark of our program. The Crossroads Building will give our fifth-graders a special learning home of their own where they can reflect, safely take risks, and mature before their next big step into Middle School.

The Langley Library

The expanded space will offer access to the latest digital and online resources as we instruct our students in digital literacy and citizenship. The new library will also serve as a hub for our entire Langley learning family.

Your Critical Role Our purpose and mission have driven a need for a state-of-theart learning center. With this deep purpose at the helm, we are now at a key intersection in our fundraising efforts for the Crossroads Building. Your partnership is critical in helping to elevate a promising and productive future for our students as we broaden our resources. Investing in our endowment will enable us to continually and fully fund innovative programming, keep tuition affordable while offering assistance to deserving families, and attract and retain the best teachers by compensating them at a level that truly recognizes their extraordinary work. Langley is committed to removing financial barriers to a high-quality education. In service of this goal, more than $2 million in tuition assistance is awarded annually. Your connection to The Langley School holds deep significance for our future, and we ask for your support in bringing the final phase of the Crossroads Building campaign to fruition.

Million-Dollar Momentum Twenty corporate partners will become the cornerstone of our fundraising efforts. We ask that you partner with The Langley School through your corporate commitment of $50,000 to the Crossroads Building. Additional Crossroads Building naming opportunities are available beginning at $100,000. The Langley School: Who We Are

Academic and Social-Emotional Philosophy

At every grade level, The Langley School’s inquiry-based curriculum empowers students and teachers to pursue their curiosity wherever it leads. Our hands-on, collaborative, imaginative approach engages students intellectually, socially, and emotionally, resulting in deeper learning at a younger age.

At Langley, we know that social-emotional learning furthers academic achievement; builds students’ resilience, adaptability, and authenticity; and prepares students to flourish in a diverse and global environment.

Since 1942, Langley has focused on shaping uncommonly kind, poised, and intelligent young learners. Today, 500 students from preschool through eighth grade learn, play, and grow on our beautiful McLean, VA, campus. That said, we have never forgotten our cooperative roots. Our steadfast belief in community – in collaborative effort and shared responsibility – fuels and shapes our program to this day. Over the years, we have also maintained and deepened our founders’ focus on childhood. As experts in their subjects and in child development, today’s Langley teachers carefully tend to students’ growth from age three to young adolescence. Over our 79-year history, The Langley School has impacted thousands of children and their families.
