thirty Issue No. 2
One Plus One Featuring
J. Zachary Keenan and Caitlin Longley Keenan
One Plus One This issue of Thirty is a look into the lives of two friends, Zach Keenan and Caitlin Longley Keenan, as they start a new chapter in their lives together. In 2009, they adopted a kitten, got engaged, and put an offer in on their first home. Moving into their home with its new found freedoms—a backyard you can finally plant in and walls you can paint—and the responsibilities that come with it—mowing said backyard and having to pick out the paint colors—is a big and exciting change in ones life. To record this passage, I asked Zach and Caitlin to shoot a photograph everyday for the month of January in 2010. The photos they submitted document lives in transition as they move from an Uptown apartment to a house in South Minneapolis. A sense of intimacy emerges as the two float in and out of each other’s frames with constant reminders of the other’s presence, even when neither are shown.
