Gay marriage changes lives in Oklahoma Couple benefits from recognized same-sex marriage ANDREW CLARK News Reporter @Clarky_Tweets
It wasn’t until Oct. 6, 2014 that same-sex couples living in the state of Oklahoma could be legally married, but Yesh and Way Medicinebird could not wait that long. Four years ag o, the Medicinebirds embarked on an unforgettable journey to marry outside of Oklahoma. Two years into their relationship, they decided to go to Iowa and marry. “We were sort of on a budget, so we couldn’t really go all out and go to California like we wanted to or anything like that,” Way Medicinebird said. It was easy, he said, to apply for a marriage license
In just a few hours, Boren’s tweet surpassed 100 retweets and even more favorites. OU President David Boren entered the Twitterverse today under an official Twitter profile with the handle @President_Boren. @UofOklahoma, OU’s official Twitter account, announced his arrival with a
tweet at 3:24 p.m. The tweet read, “Hey everyone! Help us welcome @President_Boren to Twitter!” and concluded with a #BoomerSooner. The account will be managed by members of the Office of the President, OU press secretary Corbin Wallace said. When Boren himself sends tweets from the account, he’ll sign them
in Iowa, as it was all done through the Internet. The couple downloaded the application online and mailed it in with their fees. Eventually, their application was accepted, and they traveled north to marry. One step of their wedding process was unaccounted for, however. Before the ceremony, the two realized they had not recruited a witness for their wedding. As a result, they did what any other witness-less couple would do and found a random person to be their witness. “We went to [One Iowa], an LGBTQ organization, and were like, ‘So does anyone want to come to the courthouse with us?’” Yesh Medicinebird said. “Luckily, one of the

Welding, computing and battery testing were the top priorities for an electric racing team at a meeting at the engineering practice facility. The Sooner Electric Racing team is gearing up for their national competition. The team is currently working on the development of Spirit 7 and 8, two go-karts that will be raced in Indianapolis, Indiana. Two go-karts are built yearly ever since the organization first started in 2011.
The unusual name dates back to the organization’s first kart, Spirit 1. Every year the the number changes in accordance with the current year. The team has now finished welding, battery testing and drafting plans. Next, they will mount the battery into place, manage details with the electronics and complete painting. Lastly, they plan to take it for a drive. “We want to have the kart completed by April so that we may test and tune the kart before we head off for competition,” said the captain of the team, Joshua Wakeam. OU awards $10,000 prize MATT NELSON Staff Reporter
OU has landed in the international literary spotlight with the issuance of the Newman Prize for Chinese Literature. Named after Harold J. and Ruth Newman, the prize consists of a medal, certificate and $10,000 award and is widely regarded as the most prestigious Chinese literary award in the West, said Jonathan Stalling, English professor at OU. The Newman Prize differs from other awards in that its judging process is completely transparent and is conducted by a panel of five Chinese Literary experts from around the world through a positive elimination process, Stalling said. Age, gender and location are not considered by the panel as the award is based solely on literary merit, so any Chinese-writing contestants worldwide are eligible for nomination, Stalling said. The Newman Prize was first awarded in 2009 to Mo Yan, who went on to win the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature and its $1.2 million check, Stalling said. Peter Gries, director of OU’s Institute for US-China Issues and creator of the Newman Pr ize, said he

drew inspiration from OU’s Neustadt International Prize for Literature and sought to create a unique, meaningful prize that would honor Chinese literary excellence and put the University on the map for Chinese studies. Gries says that the Newman Prize allows for a much larger selection of contestants from around the world, and is one of the few Chinese literature awards that are not distributed by Chinese businesses or the Chinese government. The prize is awarded every two years by Gries himself. T h i s y e a r ’s w i n n e r, Taiwanese writer Chu T’ienwen, was chosen for her mastery of Chinese short
fiction, which Stalling said set her apart from the other contestants who were mainly novelists. Chu’s work in “Fin-deSiècle Splendor,” a collection of modern Chinese works, has “elevated Chinese short story to new heights,” said Ma r g a re t Hi l l e n b ra n d , Modern Chinese professor at Oxford University. Stalling, who is also an editor for Chinese Literature Today, stated that he admires Chu’s ability to invoke the sights, sounds and smells of urban Taiwan as she immerses the reader in her surroundings. For anyone wishing to get involved, Gries said there will be free and public
events, including a Salon on Chinese Language Cinema, held in the Fred Jones Museum of Art at 2 p.m. March 5 and in the Collaborative L earning Room, Bizzell Library at 2 p.m. March 6. Contestants of all ages can enter to win the Newman P r i z e f o r Yo u n g P o e t s, which awards $500 to the best 28-word poem written in English using classic Chinese style, Stalling said. The deadline for the contest is Feb. 25. Directions to enter the contest can be found at http://www.ou.edu/uschina/newman/youngwriters. html.
GO-KARTS: Team to launch conference in 2016 Continued from Page One The Sooner Electric Racing team is a competition team that gives the OU students hands-on engineering experience. The team works year-round to design, construct and race electric gokarts. The team competes annually in the Purdue EV Grand Prix competition in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Purdue EV Grand Prix is a national competition, launched in 2010. The competition aims at accelerating innovation via education. Students build electric powered go-karts in hopes of developing the future of transportation. The teams are judged based on kart design, community outreach, battery efficiency and race placement. This is the fourth year the team has completed in the national and international competition. Teams are awarded based on outreach, design and speed.
BRIEFS Oklahoma Blood Institute to host semi-annual Bedlam blood drive The Oklahoma Blood Institute will host its semi-annual Bedlam Blood Drive Feb. 16-20, at the ROTC Armory. The OBI, as always, will host the same event at Oklahoma State University, said Lindsay Hix, OBI spokesperson. The blood drive is a friendly competition with OSU: last fall, OU brought in 914 student donors while OSU reached 873, according to an article published by The Daily. This year OBI hopes to have more than 1,000 OU donors, Hix said.

In previous years, the team has placed first, second and seventh place. Last year the team won the track record award after completing a drive in 27 seconds. Goals for this year include getting Spirit 7 up and running and taking first and second place. Apart from building gokarts, the team is involved in outreach activities within Norman. The team shows local high school students their go-karts and encourages creative innovation. The team plans to donate one of its Spirit go-karts to a local high school or technical school in order to generate interest in the electric racing field. “We go out to high schools to show them our work, hopefully encouraging more students to pursue engineering,” Wakeam said. Oklahoma artist to display artwork in Native American artist lecture Native American artist Anita Fields will deliver a presentation of her artwork for the Oklahoma Contemporary Native American Artist Lecture series. Fields will present at 3 p.m. Monday in Ellison Hall, Room 132. Fields, a member of the Osage Nation, received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Oklahoma State University before she continued honing her craft at the Institute of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, said Amanda Cobb-Greetham, Native American Studies director at OU. Fields works in the visual arts, with clay as her primary medium, Cobb-Greetham said. “I think what a lot of people don’t fully appreci-
ate is the caliber of artists that we have, particularly Native Americans artists who live here in Oklahoma,” Cobb-Greetham said. “This is where they’re from … they could be in New York, they could be in Los Angeles, they could be in Santa Fe, they could be anywhere in the world. But they have … created their own artist community here in Oklahoma. “ Fields will speak not only about her pottery but about her perspective on broader, more universal subjects, Cobb-Greetham said. “We feel very lucky that these people are living here [and] they are willing to come to OU and share perspectives on their work,” Cobb-Greetham said. Men’s tennis team is No. 2 seed in indoor championship this weekend No. 2 Oklahoma men’s tennis and 16 other top 25 teams in the country are set to vie for the 41st annual ITA Division I National Men’s Team Indoor Championship this weekend. The University of Illinois will host the tournament at the Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago, Illinois, from February 13-16. The Oklahoma Sooners will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament behind only the No. 1 team in the land, USC. USC beat OU in the national outdoor championships last May. The Trojans lead a deep field that includes the top 11 teams in the ITA Division 1 Men’s National Team Rankings. Eight participating schools are past champions of the
event. Last season the Sooners were seeded at No. 7 and beat No. 10 Illinois in the first round, 4-3. However, OU fell in the second round to the very team they could play in the second round this year, the No. 2 seeded UCLA. The Sooners are off to an impressive 6-0 start, not giving up more than two points in any dual. A 10-0 start would not only give them one of their best starts in school history, but also their first national indoor championship. The Sooners will compete in four matches over the weekend; OU plays Friday, February 13 through Monday, February 16. Ryan King, Tennis Reporter

OU gains new top-rated punter Austin Seibert, the nation’s top punter in his graduating class, will join OU’s football team in the fall. JOE BUETTNER
Women’s Basketball Reporter @Joe_Buettner
Distance has never really been an issue for Austin Seibert. Whether it’s the distance between the ball and the goal post or the distance between home and the school of his choice, Seibert is as cool and relaxed as they come. Listed at 5 feet 10 inches, the Belleville, Illinois-native began his journey by signing a letter of intent to play football for OU around February of last year. OU special teams coach Jay Boulware reached out to Seibert, who enjoyed four years at Belleville West High School as a varsity kicker and punter. However, Seibert’s leg isn’t just the best in Belleville. He’s rated as the nation’s top punter and second-best kicker in his graduating class by KohlsKicking.com and was invited to play in
the 2015 Under Armour AllAmerican Game. His high school coach, Cameron Pettus, said there’s something special about Seibert, who made his commitment to OU official inside Belleville West’s library on Feb. 4. “Ever y time he makes contact with the ball it’s just a different deal than when you see other kids kick the ball,” Pettus said. “There’s a different sound to it; there’s a different way it comes off his foot. There’s a certain explosion you see in there that’s just unbelievable.” Seibert said he’s been kicking since he was about 8 years old and he finetuned his abilities under the guidance of kicking coaches Jamie Kohl and Filip Filipovic. FBS-level interest was high for Seibert, who gave up soccer following his freshman year of high school to focus on football. However, he drew enough attention to receive scholarship offers
from the likes of Indiana, Miami, Missouri, and Northwestern. “ He w a s c o n s i d e r i n g Mizzou, but he was waiting for OU to offer,” Austin’s mother Dawn Seibert said. “I think he was really hoping they would and he was so excited when they did. He was sure right away.” Seibert verbally committed to OU last year in early May. However, he didn’t take his official visit to Norman until a few weeks prior to the 2015 National Signing Day. He visited OU four times before that official trip and OU’s campus was one of the biggest deciding factors for his commitment. “I wanted a campus that was beautiful,” Austin Seibert said. “It’s a public campus, but it’s like a private campus. It’s enclosed, kept up really well, really clean, and the campus fits exactly what I was looking for. The dorms are definitely a plus.” Aside from his living
arrangement, Seibert was also enticed by the opportunity to replace graduating seniors Jed Barnett, Nick Hodgson and Michael Hunnicutt as OU’s starting placekicker, punter, and kickoff specialist.
“Every time he makes contact with the ball it’s just a different deal than when you see other kids kick the ball.” CAMERON PETTUS, COACH
“It is something that we will work toward,” coach Bob Stoops said of Seibert’s chances to take over all three kicking jobs. “I would guess the endurance and fatigue of it all would have to factor in. [Seibert] is a powerful guy, so we will try to manage that in a positive way and see what he is able to handle.”
The responsibility of three starting jobs for one player doesn’t seem to faze Seibert because he’s done it his entire life. He’s just happy to get the chance to play in front of a big crowd and believes he’s in good hands with Boulware as OU’s special teams coordinator. Like most freshmen though, this will be Seibert’s first time living away from home. The incoming freshman doesn’t believe the seven-and-a-half hour drive from Norman to Belleville will affect him his first year on campus though. “I don’t get homesick too bad,” he said. “I remember back in the seventh grade, I took a week-long trip to Notre Dame. My parents got mad at me because I didn’t call them because I was having so much fun.” Austin Seibert’s mother thinks her son will miss home more than he thinks. However, she said he would leave tomorrow if he could. The pressure that awaits
Seibert next football season could be daunting though. Kicking woes hampered OU’s shot at competing for a Big 12 championship last season. Seibert, however, says he’s excited to help the program get back on track, and he’s ready to prove himself as one of the country’s best kickers coming out of high school. “It’s nice to be known as the top guy in the country,” Seibert said. “You get looked at higher up; people expect more out of you. I like rising to the occasion and impressing people who want to see the real deal first. It’ll be fun improving the program and getting back up to 10, 11, 12win seasons.” Joe Buettner joebuet@ou.edu

The Oklahoma softball team will look to continue their stellar start as they travel to Arizona this weekend to play in the Littlewood Classic hosted by Arizona State University. The competition is a step up from the weekend before and will further test this Sooner team early in the season. Last week, the Sooners started their season strong with an impressive showing in Honolulu, going 5-0 in the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic. The Sooners won the tournament with a combined score of 52-5 through the five games as they showed an impressive combination of offense and pitching. Senior Lauren Chamberlain showed quickly why she is regarded as one of the most outstanding hitters in college softball as she earned co-Big 12 Player of the Week, hitting .500 with 12 RBI and three home runs. Chamberlain is now only 15 homers away from tying the all-time record for homeruns in NCAA Division I softball. Chamberlain is not overly concerned about the record though. “I really don’t think about [breaking the record],” she said. “It’s just a number, really. I just go out and play softball and compete every day.” Freshman Paige Parker pitched like a seasoned veteran all weekend, as she went 2-0 with a save while not giving up a single run. In her second outing, Parker threw a perfect game in the championship against Hawaii. This is only the ninth ever perfect game in OU history, and she earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week with her performance. “Playing at the collegiate level is so much more intense

The No. 1 Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team will head to Oklahoma City Friday to take on No. 21 Kentucky in the annual Perfect 10 Challenge. The Sooners are undefeated after their first six meets and entered the week as the first squad since 2011 to hold the No. 1 overall ranking and to be No. 1 nationally at every individual event. Their 198.150 at Iowa State last week stands as the highest team score in the country this season. S o p h o m o re Chays e Capps earned her first Big 12 Gymnast of the Week honor earlier this week
after posting a 9.95 in both vault and beam last week in addition to her 9.825 on the floor exercise. McKenzie Wofford also garnered Big 12 honors this week, being named Event Specialist of the Week. The team will face two top ranked teams from the Pac12 in Washington (15) and Arizona State (21) this weekend. Both teams beat the Sooners in the tournament last year, and the team is looking to focus on those games a little more personally. “This is the tournament every team wants to play in,” said Chamberlain. “The competition is a lot better this time, and we have to keep playing our game.”
“The team is looking to right a wrong, in a way, and go in and show early in the season that we are a very good team,” said head coach Patty Gasso about Washington and ASU. “There’s a lot of meaning behind those teams, and we’ve had a good history with those teams.” Oklahoma plays Washington Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., and they play two games against ASU starting at 9:15 p.m. Saturday. Oklahoma will also face Boston in the first game of the tournament at 10 a.m. Friday, and Illinois State

“Duck Dynasty” takes the stage Musical shows family’s rise to affluence LAS VEGAS (AP) — It’s all seemed like one big unlikely mashup: the Deep South, God-fearing family of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” turning their tale into a song and dance musical on stage in Sin City. Even Broadway producer Michael David has been on the receiving end of inevitable surprise and, sometimes, concern when people learned of his involvement in the “Duck Commander Musical.” What were thespian bluestaters doing getting involved with duck-hunting entrepreneurs from a decidedly red state? Especially duck-hunting entrepreneurs whose patriarch has been quoted vilifying homosexual behavior.
“If theater people are storytellers, God knows we don’t only tell stories about people we agree with.” MICHAEL DAVID, BROADWAY PRODUCER
“If theater people are storytellers, God knows we don’t only tell stories about p e o p l e w e ag re e w i t h,” David said. The man behind the m u s i c a l “ Je r s e y B o y s,” his Dodgers Theatricals group and music executive Tommy Mottola teamed up with the “Ducks” to bridge
two worlds. There certainly will be beards. And the usual family antics seen on the show. But there will be no do-sidoing around any of the controversy involving the family on “Duck Dynasty,” cable’s highest-rated reality show. The good, the bad and the in-between are all said to be part of the 90-minute retelling of the Robertson family’s rags-to-riches story, performed in a 680-seat theater inside the Rio hotel and casino starting April 15. There will be eight performances a week, and tickets are expected to cost $49 to $125. The musical w ill feature actors playing the Robertsons. It’s based on the 2012 book by Willie Robertson and wife, Korie, titled “ The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks Built a Dynasty.” “If we do it right,” the show will be foot-stomping fun, but insightful and moving too, David said. The improbable involvements all started with Willie Robertson’s agent, who saw a Broadway tale in his book and linked up Willie with a few of her other clients — Broadway composers and lyricists Robert and Steven Morris and Joe Shane. David and Mottola had wanted to work with the composing team, which was behind the musical “White Noise,” whatever their next project may be. “Who knew this was the answer? This was not exactly what we expected,” David said of learning the “Duck

The Robertson family’s public image has suffered since patriarch Phil Ro b e r t s o n c o m m e nt e d about homosexuality and sin in an early 2014 magazine profile, and occasionally since, leading to a backlash and brief suspension of their popular TV program. And it prompted Willie Robertson to travel to New
York to talk it through with the people involved in the family’s musical, knowing some are gay. Willie wanted to assure everyone that the rest of the family wasn’t “tarred with Phil,” David said. How the family talked it through apparently is all in the show. “It’s a powerful scene,” Willie Robertson said. “That’s where it gets super

OU’s production of “The Rocky Horror Show” is postponed until fall
Tickets are sold out for the OU Drama department’s “Othello,” which is showing at 8 p.m. through Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday. It is being presented in the Lab Theatre on the second floor of the Old Science Hall. One of William Shakespeare’s longer plays, “Othello” is the tragedy of a general in the Venetian army. “[The audience] should expect a very interesting evening, it’s a show that draws a lot of emotions,” said Austin Reid, acting sophomore and member of the play ensemble. The play, which opened Tuesday night, was directed by guest Paul Barnes. The cast began rehearsals on Jan. 7, Reid said. Reid said that audience members are in for a treat.
The University Theatre’s performance of “The Rocky Horror Show,” which was set to run this weekend, has been rescheduled until around Halloween in the fall. The production was rescheduled because the department did not get rights secured for the original performance date from the publisher of the play, Samuel French, Inc., said Sandra Bent, marketing coordinator for the department. An organization that wants to perform a play published by Samuel French, Inc. must present desired performance dates to them in its license to perform the play, Bent said. Meet face-to-face with employers Career Services to hold Spring Career Fair next week Staff Reporter
Students from every major and college will meet faceto-face with employees from 135 different companies at the OU Spring 2015 Career Fair. Those who plan to attend the career fair need to follow a list of steps to be fully prepared for the experience, said Bette Scott, Career Services director. The first step is to create a résumé and have a professional in career services look at it, Scott said. “We’re doing résumé critiques this week and all through next week until the day of the career fair,” Scott said. “We’d be happy to do that.” Along with a résumé, Scott said, Career Services supplies portfolios for the participants to carry résumés in a professional manner. Students should dress in business professional attire. “You need to dress about as fancy as it gets,” Scott said. This career fair will repeat an event from the previous university career fair — the photo booth. Since students will already be dressed in professional

Workshops before the Career Fair will be held on Feb. 16 and 17 by employers who will be present, Scott said. Employees of those companies will coach students on how to achieve success at the fair. “There are many students who have never been to a career fair before, and over the years I’ve seen lots of students who think this is a scary thing,” Scott said. “So going to these workshops should alleviate some of that fear and

He wants to choose between public relations, communications, business and psychology. “I just want bits and pieces of information from people that are in those majors,” Balaguy said. “I’m stoked.” Most companies are looking to fill entry-level positions, Scott said. “I think for those students who are looking at the employers coming to the career fair, it is a key step in the job search process,” Scott said. “I think it gets their actual face in front of that person and allows them to interact with the employer, and that’s something that’s very important. It’s the first impression that maybe the résumé can’t give you,” Scott said. Scott hopes the fair will get participants’ feet in the door and provide face-to-face contact with employers who are looking to hire OU students, she said.

Bill clears Congress to build Keystone pipeline President Obama threatens to veto the measure The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican-controlled Congress cleared a bill Wednesday to construct the Keystone XL oil pipeline, setting up a confrontation with President Barack Obama, who has threatened to veto the measure. The House passed the bill on a 270-152 vote, endorsing changes made by the Senate that stated climate change was real and not a hoax, and oil sands should no longer be exempt from a tax used to cleanup oil spills. Only one Republican,
Michigan Rep. Justin Amash, voted against the measure, while 29 Democrats backed it. But neither the House nor the Senate has enough votes to overcome a veto, the first of many skirmishes between the Democratic White House and Congress on energy and environmental policy. Supporters were already strategizing on how to secure the pipeline’s approval using other legislative means. “The evidence is in. The case ought to be closed,” said Rep. THE OKLAHOMA DAILY PRESENTS
Once in a lifetime, out of this world Once upon a time, I dreamt of this girl As the fiery star sets, its light kisses her best Much like the sun, my heart rests in the west Hair cascading, contouring her neck Like a moonlit current with unknown depth It’s the way she whispers my name, I happily confess. Like it’s her grand finals like it’s her final breath So compelling, so compelling A voice that pulls my heartstrings stretched To love her is a treasure For her love, my heart sets
Lovelines Leave Will and be my sunshine, Jiayu! Love, Min
I would leave him but he gives me spring rolls. What can I do, Min?
You’re quite the catch, let me catch ya’ when you can! Wilma-- I can make your bedrock. Get it? Bedrock.
For girl with the white shirt & Texas necklace also with watch on left hand... Did you feel that? Felt like an earthquake!! or did you just rock my world?! ;)
Listen to your heart speak, Listen to your dear one’s cries, Listen to your mind think, Listen to your heart speak. I sit in grey weather, waiting to hear from my dear Heather. Listening to her speak, My mind stresses to think. I love this time, this moment sublime, It stitches a quilt that disregards rhyme. Because love isn’t limited to diction, about fiction, It’s stoked by actions and passion, filled without fashion but with authenticity. I lace & weave until my heart doesn’t grieve since I know one day I’ll share my quilt with thee. You are my favorite hello, and my hardest goodbye. Babe, I just wanted to say how lucky I am to have you as my girlfriend! Can’t wait to see you this weekend! Love you KB! =] Valentine’s Day is like a funeral for single people with a capital F-U-N! Alex, This is our fourth Valentine’s Day together, but I love you more each and everyday, not just this day. Love, Shelby You’ve got this one thing, that’s what makes you beautiful so live while we’re young and make we happily! -Be my Valentine! Dear Brian, YOU ARE AWESOME. So is Archie <3 Love, Erica. Kate, You are beauty. You are grace. You are Miss United States. Love, Hickory Ham Mike Shout out to Sigma Lambda Gamma on promoting heart disease awareness! OU gammas are beautiful! Happy singles awareness day. Buy yourself a pizza, eat cookie dough raw, and have a marvelous day. This is amazing. Stay positive! #TYBG -- Lil’ B And I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will always......... Love you!!!!!!!! Thank you Whitney -- Ryno Pennel “Ryno, I can’t sing that song with any one else but you!" Hey sweetheart, I know we're young, We don't know the best, But why not give this a shot before the sun sets? We should hide from the daylight, Skip to the weekends and live for great nights... Without you this won't be so, I'll be forced to say No before the sun sets.
To the guy with the glasses in my chem 2 class, I live in constant fear of accidentally mentioning something I only know about you because I’ve stalked you on the internet.
If you were booger, I’d pick you first. Hey girl, you lookin' for a good time...? I'll tell you what, 7:30 is perfect. That'll give you plenty of leeway room to prepare and to clean up afterwards. I prefer my eggs scrambled.
I'd kale to go on a date with you. - Single Vegan Szépem, Boldog Valentin-nap. Csak szerettem volna mondani neked, szeretlek es remélem vagy egy szép napot. Hamarosan látjuk egymást. Szíved, Jonás
~To my one true love~ You may not be tall, but you are dark and handsome. You bring me joy in my low times and then some. When I go to class I can’t help but think, What you may be doing besides listening to NSync. You always stay quiet and never say a word, But I have grown used to your quietness of a bird. When I first saw you, I gave you a wink, Yet still, even now, you won’t even blink. I still cannot believe that I got so lucky, Finding you in a small shop in Kentucky. Most of my friends did not know what you were, They simply claimed, “He’s just made out of fur”. I love you for everything you are inside and out, And I hate that I cannot take you out and about. Oh wait, I forgot to tell the readers something, My one true love might not have a heart thumping. For he is actually a stuffed animal bear, Who literally does nothing all day but stare. Stay warm and cozy, for I will see you when, I return from class and meetings to you, my lovely BenBen! --Emily Sowah
Your cheekbones could cut a man and I want to bleed.
"Love" Love is really fun, But sometimes it makes no sense. Potato salad. -- Matthew Cassady Misty the winds are, the petals of divine grace. Memories unravel, and I am caught up in your embrace It took you three tries to win my heart, Now I can’t imagine us even a day apart. Our love carried through to Mexico and back, Our love made a baby which was a step off track. We were scared at first, Of what we thought might be a turn for the worst, But our baby girl is now almost two, She’s the biggest symbol of how much I love you. I see you when I look into her big brown eyes, The baby that we made who was such a surprise, Has now become our sweetest little angel, Even though she insists on calling me “Rachel.” I can’t wait to spend eternity together, Even in Oklahoma with this crazy weather. ;) You, me, and Mia are together to stay, We can live life to the fullest until the very last day. Our love story began with you as my best friend, And best friends we will stay until the very end. I wrote this Loveline for you and I hope that it rocks, Maybe tonight we’ll go out instead of playing Xbox? ;).

TO: Chandler Rogers FROM: Patrick Yarbrough Valentine's Day is such a scam It's not just this day I'm your biggest fan So you'll get no flowers, red or blue Just one lasting promise, I love you Maybe some Netflix and cheap wine Valentine's Day is no reason to fine dine It's just another mark in the calendar year I'll show my love everyday, my dear Chocolate and cards it's really all absurd "Valentine's is for love, haven't you heard" But we've made it about gifts, shiny and new Valentine's should be everyday, through and through I'll love you everyday for the rest of my life I'm so excited you are about to be my wife I don't need a day to tell me what I know You're the greatest gal in the world... Fo' Sho
Things build up and the days seem so routine. But I want to tell you everything. I want to let you know how I’ve been and what I’ve done and where I’ve gone. I want to share my experiences from my daily rush down the oval to my adventures at the duck pond. Like my first day in the Adams dorms or the time the campus got invaded by a cricket swarm. Like how I took upon the challenge to get free t-shirts from clubs like UPB or like how it took me forever to memorize my student ID or like when I first did laundry and realized that washing wasn’t free. Like when I when to crossroads in the middle of the night, because it was the only place open or the time that I couldn’t give blood because I was low on hemoglobin. Like when I went to my first game and we sang in alma mater’s praise and with every touchdown the whole stadium was in a state of craze. Like the time when we woke up early on a Saturday morning to run a “fun” 5K or the random hump day where we could ride a camel even if they day was foggy grey. Like how we cringed when we saw someone (probably a freshman) walk underneath the clock tower or how we have gone to the caf just to devour. Like the day when we danced all night to fight for the sake of a cure, or how we refuse to wear burnt orange or maybe that’s just because it’s de jure. Honestly, I could go on and on, but then this message may become too long so I shall conclude. As little as the event was or as or as strange as the story may be, I want you to know how much this place means to me. Happy Valentine’s Day OU --A little gift from me to you. "I feel good" that we are together. You are my "sweet lady". I'm addicted to your "honey love". All I can do is "try" because "deep inside" I know that you make me "stronger" You are a "beautiful surprise" and I love our "easy conversation" . "truth is" we're just "ordinary people,” and if it's "cool" with you I want to take away "the pressure" of your day. We can go "runnin" together, you can be my "drankin partna" pass me da "hookah" and have "late nights, and early mornings" .... when you're around "nothing even matters" I love you more than my "crown royal" you're a "smooth operator", I love to "kiss you down low" and "believe me" I can't see myself with "nobody else". You make me wanna "dance for you" You are really making me "stay" in Okc. "Lately" all I've been saying is you have to "live your life" mel. So, "I choose" you! And in case you haven't heard it enough "I love you" 2/9/15- <3 Mel Katie, You are the frosting to my cupcake. You are the jelly to my peanut butter. You are the bacon to my cream cheese jalapeno popper. Let's do lunch this Valentines Day. I love you! -Jamie the Hungry
The Hammock I'm lying in a hammock wishing there was something I could do Something, anything, so that I could be with you It's windy, serene, a beautiful place But all I can think of is your face I miss you, your laugh, your smile And I think of the fact that I won't see you for a while... And it makes me sad, it hollows my heart The devastating fact that for now we are apart And I hope and I dream for the wonderful day When we will be reunited and chase the loneliness away But until then I have to face life Full of both joy and strife The kind hand and the sharp knife The pleasure and the pain The loss and the gain I wish it would just rain! I could lose myself in the catharsis, feel the emotions drain But for now they are inside me, raging around Absolutely deafening, though they never make a sound I wish you were here, my own personal sun To make me feel like Christmas, to be my only one The one I'll always be with, the one that nothing goes above The one who matters most, the one I'll always love.
Ten years ago we met after I returned from war, you gave peace, you gave me hope, you gave me love. Thank you for choosing me so I might earn all you have done for me. You gave me two beautiful children and a third on the way. Thank you for choosing me to help you lead them along the way. You challenged me to be the best I can be. Thank you for helping me achieve my goals and dreams. You are more of a woman than I deserve or that I ever thought possible, But Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for giving me a chance at making you happy. Happy Valentines Day to my life my love, Gabe Valentine's day is the perfect time to reflect on all your horrible dating choices since last Valentine's day My love, we met when dancing at Camp Crimson three summers ago Who knew the amount of love which would flow From our hearts to one another in laughter and tears We love each other and share our fears. Thank goodness for you because you decrease my stress Through those many times my girl craziness has put you to the test You're handsome, tall, and have the best hair But the best part about you is how much you care. You have the biggest heart and love me like crazy With you, I feel beautiful in sweatpants (watching Netflix) when we're lazy I would be a lost puppy without you because you're my guiding light When I see you, your smile lights up my heart because it shines so bright. My heart is full of love for you because you are my true love I know you were sent to me as an angel from above If all I ever did in my life is love you There'd be nothing else happier for me to do. I love you, Mason Hancock. Who knows, who cares? "Libby Millsap You smell like poo Your hair is like a horse And your eyes like doo doo I hope you'll be my bestie Until we both die Just tell me that you love me Or else I will cry."
