DAD’S DAY FOR ALL DAD’S WEEKEND MADE TO BE MORE INCLUSIVE
DAYTEN ISRAEL | @DAYTENISRAEL OU students and family members will have a chance to honor and participate in many events with the dads of OU this weekend. Dad’s Day, a popular OU tradition, will begin on Nov. 6 and end on Nov. 8 with different events spread over the course of those days and campus. Though the name is deceiving, Dad’s Day is really a family weekend and is for all family members, said Jacob Nguyen, CAC Dad’s Day chair. “We really want to invite parents and other family members to experience that Sooner experience that all students really get to feel every day,” Nguyen said. Nguyen said his goal for this year was to shine a light on Dad’s Day weekend and the spring CAC event, Mom’s Day weekend, in an effort to show students and parents that these events are for family.
Many people believe that these events are very exclusive to certain parents or families, but they’re not, Nguyen said.
“THAT’S BEEN THE REALLY BIG POINT OF DAD’S DAY THIS YEAR: TO BE INCLUSIVE TOWARD EVERYONE, NOT JUST A CERTAIN GROUP.” JACOB NGUYEN, CAC DAD’S DAY CHAIR Though some events are catered toward the fathers of OU students, they’re really geared toward all families and family members, Nguyen said. “That’s been the really big point of Dad’s Day this
year: to be inclusive toward everyone, not just a certain group,” Nguyen said. As usual, Dad’s Day will honor one particular OU dad with the Father of The Year Award, Nguyen said. Father of the Year is decided through an application process and, of those applications submitted, 10 outstanding fathers and father figures are selected by the Father of the Year committee, Nguyen said. The Dad’s Day executive committee asked notable people around campus to be judges and rank these applications according to what they believe makes a good father or father figure, Nguyen said.

As Oklahoma enters November, it also enters the toughest part of its schedule. After hosting Iowa State Saturday, the Sooners will travel to Waco to take on No. 6 Baylor, host No. 8 TCU and finish the season at No. 14 Oklahoma State. Before OU attempts to run that gauntlet, we thought it would be a good time to take a look at the season statistically so far.

RANKED OPPONENTS FACE OFF PLENTY OF OTHER COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMES TO WATCH SATURDAY
SCOTT HINEY | @SCOTTHINEY As compelling as Oklahoma’s matchup with Iowa State is, there are plenty of other great games around college football Saturday. No. 8 TCU @ No. 14 Oklahoma State | Saturday, 2:30 p.m. | FOX In the first of the Big 12’s “November to Remember” games, TCU heads to Stillwater for a game that will prove the legitimacy between two teams that have yet to play a ranked opponent. Both the Horned Frogs and Cowboys have had
some close calls against less-than-stellar teams, including seven and two-point wins over 3-4 Kansas State, respectively. On the positive side, TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin has been a standout all season, and his Heisman stock is only rising. A big game and win against Oklahoma State could vault him into the conversation with LSU’s Leonard Fournette. The Cowboys have skirte d l o s s e s i n s e v e ra l o f their games, but after a 70point performance against Texas Tech, no one can
question their firepower. The Cowboys have had a knack for playing well when it matters, including a comeback win over the Red Raiders, an overtime victory in Morgantown, West Virginia, and a three-point victory over Texas thanks to a botched punt. That being said, Oklahoma State is still 8-0, and until they lose, the Cowboys are a formidable foe. Prediction: TCU 52, Oklahoma State 45

MATCHUP BREAKDOWN OKLAHOMA LOOKS TO CONTINUE MOMENTUM AGAINST IOWA STATE
SPENSER DAVIS | @DAVIS_SPENSER
The Sooners have one final tune-up game before facing three ranked teams to close out their 2015 season. And while OU shouldn’t have any problems against Iowa State, the Cyclones shouldn’t be overlooked after their 24-0 win over Texas last weekend. Here’s how the Sooners match up:
been rolling ever since the Sooners’ shocking loss to Texas. OU has averaged 60 points per game since that loss, and there’s no reason to think that won’t continue against the Cyclones. Iowa State is firmly in the middle of the Big 12 in pass defense, but it has yet to face Oklahoma or Oklahoma State— two of the three top passing offenses in the Oklahoma’s passing attack country. OU should be able to pass — and run — vs Iowa State’s secondary Baker Mayfield has at will against Iowa State.
