PROGRAMS: Monthly Children’s Classes Adult Art Education FAM at the YAM Studio Lessons Tour Groups YAM Teens Connections at the Museum YAM Camp Summer Art Academy
We provide high-quality, museum-based art education to students of all ages in Billings and the surrounding region. The YAM education team develops its own art curriculum, aligned with MT state art education standards for our K–12 students. Every lesson is inspired by works from our permanent collection or current temporary exhibitions. We also work with local professional teaching artists to bring a wide variety of techniques and mediums to our adult learners.
Each year the YAM’s Young Artists’ Gallery features exhibitions from each of our eight long-standing partnerships with schools. We connect with those who cannot come to the museum by taking art classes to the Montana Women’s Prison, Billings Clinic Youth Partial Hospitalization Program, South Side 316 Afterschool Program, Passages Women’s Center and more.

Welcome! Dear Friends of the Yellowstone Art Museum, Thank you for joining us for the Art Auction, the YAM’s signature fundraising event. Of course, this year is extra special as the Museum celebrates its 60th anniversary! While we reflect on how far the Museum has come in the last six decades, we thank the many volunteers, board members, donors, sponsors, community members, businesses, foundations, artists, county commissioners, and staff members who have given generously of their time, talent, and resources. The Museum would not be where it is today without their foresight, creativity, and dedication. This year’s Art Auction features both a Silent Auction and a Live Auction along with an exclusive number of Legacy artworks by artists who were foundational to the Museum, but who are no longer living. It is an eclectic selection, with something for everyone! We hope you find this juried Art Auction collection inspiring and impressive. We certainly do. We owe a debt of gratitude to the Art Auction artists. Each artist donates a portion of the hammer price of their work to the Museum, helping the YAM raise critical funds to support our mission of “Art for All.” We thank them for their commitment. Every year, many individuals come together to make the Art Auction a success. We extend our gratitude to the event’s sponsors, the jurors, the Board of Trustees, and our many volunteers, and especially Lornel Baker, Chair of the Development Committee, for making this a spectacular event. Many thanks for joining us as we celebrate 60 years of contemporary art in Billings! And, please bid high and bid often! Your generosity supports all the work that we do at the Museum. Cheers!

AUCTION INFORMATION Silent Auction Bidding Silent Auction bidding is free and available entirely online from February 2nd at 4 PM to February 29th at midnight. Register at artmuseum.org. B uy-it-Now is available on some Silent Auction works and allows the purchaser to claim the winning bid at a premium price, removing the work from any additional bids or sale. Buy-it-Now will not be available for artworks from artists with artwork in both the Live Auction and Silent Auction. Works that have not been purchased through Buy-it-Now can be bid on by ticket holders at the in-person closing event, The 60th Anniversary Art Auction and Gala on March 2nd. For those works, the highest bid online does not guarantee a sale until all events conclude and highest bidders are notified.
Live Auction Bidding Bidding on Live Auction artwork is open only at the March 2nd event to ticket holders, absentee bidders, and phone bidders. All Live Auction attendees will be assigned a bid number and paddle on March 2nd. Bidders who wish to remain anonymous must register as absentee. The Auctioneer has the final say in all bids. In the event of a dispute between bidders, the Auctioneer shall determine the successful bidder or re-auction the item in dispute. In honor of the YAM’s 60th Anniversary, there are a select number of works created by YAM Legacy Artists. These are artists who are no longer living and the artworks were donated by their estate, or previous collectors.
Absentee Bidding If you are unable to attend the 60th Anniversary Auction & Gala in person, absentee bidding and live phone bidding are available. Participants must register by 12 PM MST on Friday, March 1st. Meet the Auctioneer Maron Hindman Hindman Auctions Maron Hindman began her decades long career in the auction business as the Director of Marketing and Bids and Client Services for Leslie Hindman Auctioneers. The Chicago-based firm operates more salerooms in the United States than any competitors and conducts over 150 auctions annually in all major collection categories. Maron became one of the principal auctioneers shortly after she joined the firm, and, since her move to the Denver branch, she was instrumental in building a successful and growing Western and Wildlife Art Department for the auction house. For over 30 years, Maron provided private collectors, estate professionals and institutions comprehensive art services including valuation, auction, private sales, collection management as well as disposition and acquisition advice. Hindman had the privilege of handling many prominent estates and collections from distinguished museums, institutions, corporations, and private individuals from across the country and is recognized globally as a leading auction house with an unyielding focus on client service. Maron served as an auctioneer in numerous charity auction events including the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, USO, Children’s Home and Aid Society, Easter Seals Greater Chicago, Wellness House and the Brookfield Zoo, Easter Seals Colorado, Up with People, Porter Hospital, and Opera Colorado. She also coordinated consignments from individuals, private collections, estates, and museums throughout the West and Southwest region. Maron lives with her husband and family in Denver, Colorado.
