Explore the Art of Encaustic Painting

Join Art Auction 55 Artist Candace Forrett and enter the fascinating art of encaustic painting through this basic introduction of the medium. Class includes a brief historical and contemporary background, an introduction to materials and processes. Students will gain hands-on experience using basic techniques as well as access to a wide variety of reference materials.

The Art of Urban Sketching

Are you ready to elevate your sketching into a more memorable visual experience? Sharpen your pencils and join artists from Billing’s own Urban Sketchers for a day of pop-up workshops and on-site demos at the museum. Learn the basic framework of urban sketching and discover the tools used to create on the fly. Jump into the world of rendering perspective, then study color and layout with the artists to help tell your story in a fresh new way.

Plein Air Painting

This on-site painting workshop will celebrate the life and legacy of Montana’s own Isabelle Johnson. We will meet on location at her family’s sheep farm, now home to Tippet Rise Art Center. Bring your own lunch, snacks, and plenty of water to head out for a day of artistic development under the direction of Plein Air artist Jerry Inman. Learn to paint like a true legend inspired by this amazing landscape. Back update due to weather will be April 29 if needed.
