PARENT OF A SENIOR
MAKING EXCELLENCE
ACCESSIBLE
Not surprisingly, Norfolk Academy’s outstanding faculty, resources, and programs are expensive to provide.
However, we strive to keep our annual tuition as low as possible—lower than many of our peer institutions nationwide. And we’re committed to providing need-based financial aid. We embrace the school’s Philosophy of enrolling students “who show promise of intellectual curiosity and who come from families of varied social, economic, religious, ethnic, and racial backgrounds.” We allocate more than $3 million each year to meet the financial needs of students and families.
We recognize that even with our generous financial aid, paying for an Academy education can be a significant stretch. But regardless of a family’s financial situation or how much of a sacrifice they must make to send their children here, any family here will tell you this about Norfolk Academy: It’s absolutely worth it.

How many students receive financial aid?
Approximately one in five Norfolk Academy students receives some form of financial aid.
How much financial assistance might my family expect to receive?
Awards range from $500 to nearly the full cost of tuition and fees.
How are awards decided?
The school’s Financial Aid Committee uses data provided by Clarity, as well as other documents. Awards depend on a number of factors, including income, net worth, and number of children in schools charging tuition.
Does a request for financial aid affect the admissions decision?

HOW AWARDS ARE DETERMINED
Norfolk Academy uses the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts. The Financial Aid Committee at Norfolk Academy evaluates requests for financial assistance and makes recommendations based on the Clarity report and supporting documentation.
To be eligible for financial aid, the student must be accepted or enrolled at Norfolk Academy, and the family must demonstrate financial need.
Aid is awarded on the basis of the applicant’s need as determined by the guidelines established by Clarity and the availability of funds. The Director of Admissions and the Assistant Headmaster for Business and Auxiliary Operations will be happy to answer questions.
“Norfolk Academy has truly let me explore who I am, as well as who I want to be.”
