Summer Programs FAQ’s

▶ Can I register for camp online?

Yes! We only accept online registrations. Please visit www.norfolkacademy.org/summer and click the “register now” button. You will be directed to our online registration system, Campwise. If you have an account, you will complete the box on the left side. If you need to create an account, please follow the directions on the right. ProTip: Add your Campwise login information as a contact in your phone, so it’s always easy to access.

▶ How does the deposit process work?

Before June 1st, each participant must submit a $100 deposit for each camp they register for. (For example: If you’re registering your child for four camps, your deposit would be $100 x 4= $400). Without the $100 deposit, a spot will not be reserved for your child. The deposit will then be applied to the total dues for each camp.

▶ How does the payment plan work?

Once you register, and make the deposit towards camp, you will be contacted with payment plan details. Until the balance is paid in full, monthly payment will be auto charged using a credit card on file. All balances must be paid on or before Thursday, June 1, 2023.

▶ May I still register for camps after June 1st?

Yes, but full camp tuition will be required to reserve your child’s place in camp.

▶ What is your refund policy?

Cancellations before June 1st will result in a 50% forfeiture of the per camp deposit. After June 1st, camp deposits are 100% non-refundable. Refunds will not be given if a camper is dismissed from camp due to disciplinary action. Camp fees are also not prorated for illness or other reasons a camper may not be able to attend camp.

▶ How will I know if a camp my child wants to attend is full? Is there a waiting list? Many camps fill by early Spring. If you are trying to register for a camp that is full, our registration system will notify you and you will be placed on a wait list. No payment is necessary if you are placed on a wait list. If an opening becomes available, you will be contacted to determine if you are still interested in the camp. All wait lists are in chronological order of registration date.

▶ Should I read the “Camp Handbook?” Yes! The handbook was created to provide parents and guardians with necessary information to make Summer at the Academy as stress free as possible. Many questions that may arise can be answered by consulting the handbook first. The website also contains updated information.

▶ My child does not attend Norfolk Academy, can he/she still attend?

Absolutely! In fact, last year over 40% of our campers were not Norfolk Academy students!

▶ What forms do you need for registration? BIRTH CERTIFICATE:

□ If this is the first time your child is attending Summer Programs and is NOT a current Norfolk Academy student (did not attend NA for the 2022-2023 school year), a birth certificate IS required.

□ If you are a current Norfolk Academy student, but never attended Summer Programs, you do NOT need to submit a birth certificate.

□ If you are a new incoming Bulldog for the 2023-2024 school year, and have already submitted to Admissions, please email Anita Pozin at apozin@norfolkacademy.org to confirm.

□ Birth Certificates are due by June 1st.

PHYSICAL:

□ If this is the first time your child is attending Summer Programs and is NOT a current Norfolk Academy student (did not attend NA for the 2022-2023 school year), a physical is required to attend. It must be less than 365 days old and must include the immunization page. NA students who completed the 2022-2023 school year do NOT need to provide a physical.

□ If you are a current Norfolk Academy student (attended the 2022-23 school year), AND this will be your first year attending Summer Programs, you do NOT need to provide a physical.

□ If you are a new incoming Bulldog for the 2023-24 school year and have submitted to the Clinic or to Magnus, please email apozin@norfolkacademy.org to confirm.

□ Physicals are due by June 1st.

Failure to submit birth certificates and/or physicals could result in forfeiture to attend.

▶ What if I want to register my child over the weekend for a camp that begins on Monday? The Summer at the Academy office is closed and does not accept weekend registrations.

▶ Is lunch included with camp tuition?

Lunch is included in all our camps. The Summer menu will be online by June 1st.

▶ Do you offer a bus service? Is there a fee? Bus service is included in registration. Bus routes and times can be found on pages 6-7 or by visiting www.norfolkacademy.org/summer. Please note: These are limited in comparison to our regular school routes.

▶ Do you offer Extended Care?

Yes! We offer both Before Care and After Care. Our Before Care opens at 7:30 a.m., and Aftercare is open until 6:00 p.m. Additional fees apply. Information can be found on pages 9-10.

Find your voice and leave your mark on the world! Whether you are six or sixteen, it’s time to start a career as the next YouTube® star.

Do you love movies with exciting special effects, like The Avengers, Star Wars, or Harry Potter? Amaze your friends by swinging a lightsaber or blasting fire from your hands and becoming a master of the illusions used by Hollywood artists to create visual effects magic. Whether you want to enhance your YouTube® videos or create a cool scene to amaze your friends; this class teaches the tools you need. Experiment with visual effects as you learn the dynamics of camera angles, editing, graphic layering, and sound effects. Then watch as your new creations take your channel content to the next level! Student projects are available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family.
