How to Apply


Application Checklist Applicants to The Bush School use a web-based program called Ravenna (ravenna-hub.com) to create a student profile, complete an application, and schedule a tour.

COMPLETE PRELIMINARY APPLICATION ON RAVENNA Complete the Preliminary Application and submit the $70 application fee by Thursday, December 7, 2017. We encourage you to complete your preliminary application as soon as possible in order to notify The Bush School of your intent to apply.

SCHEDULE STUDENT VISIT After submitting the Preliminary Application, applicants may schedule a student visit on Ravenna.

SUBMIT PARENT/GUARDIAN STATEMENT AND STUDENT VOICE/ESSAYS Submit your completed Parent/Guardian Statement and Student Voice (Kindergarten through Fourth Grade) and Student Essay (Fifth through Tenth Grade) through Ravenna by January 11, 2018

SUBMIT REQUEST FOR RECORDS TO CURRENT SCHOOL First–Tenth Grade: Print and sign the Request for Records form through Ravenna and submit to your student's current school. Schools have until the end of January 2018 to submit student records/transcripts.

DELEGATE TEACHER EVALUATION FORMS Delegate the teacher evaluation forms to your child’s current teacher(s) through Ravenna. Kindergarten applicants are only required to submit one teacher recommendation. First through Tenth Grade applicants must submit two teacher recommendations. Teachers are asked to complete and submit the evaluations online by January 11, 2018.

COMPLETE ADMISSIONS ASSESSMENT Kindergarten: All applicants will complete an on-site readiness assessment during the student visit.

Sixth–Tenth Grade: All applicants must submit Independent School Entrance Exam

(ISEE) or Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) scores by the end of January 2018.

SUBMIT FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION Applicants interested in applying for need-based financial aid must submit the financial aid application and family budget through NAIS School and Students Services (SSS) by February 8, 2018. Middle School and Upper School Testing Applicants to Sixth through Tenth Grade are required to submit Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) scores by the end of January. The Bush School accepts either the ISEE or SSAT and does not have a test preference. Students are not required to take the test at Bush and may take it at another testing site.

The Bush School will be administering the SSAT on campus for students applying to Sixth through Tenth Grade on Saturday, January 6, 2018. To register online, visit ssat.org. Please be sure to list The Bush School as a score recipient. Bush's school code is 1970.


Managing the Cost 2017–2018 TUITION $26,325 Kindergarten to Fifth Grade $32,220 Sixth to Eighth Grade $33,735 Ninth to Twelfth Grade Additional costs range from $150 in the Lower School to $400–$500 in Middle School and $600–$700 in the Upper School. Students may pack lunch or purchase lunch for an additional cost in the Commons, the school cafeteria. *Tuition for the 2018–2019 school year will be set in January by the Board of Trustees.

FINANCIAL AID Education is an investment that lasts a lifetime. The Bush School is committed to making an independent school education accessible to students, regardless of their financial circumstances. Bush provides more than $3.1 million in financial assistance to 21% of the student body. Financial aid funds are delivered in the form of grants, ranging from $250 up to 99% of total tuition costs. Grants are not loans and do not need to be paid back. Financial aid is awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need, as determined by School and Student Services (SSS) a subsidiary of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Financial aid applications must be submitted online at sssbynais.org. A complete financial aid application consists of a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and 2016 W2 or 1099 and 1040.

PAYMENT PLANS Bush offers three different payment plan options for tuition.

Full Payment: 100% of tuition and fees paid on or before July 1, 2018. Partial Payment: Tuition payable in three installments due on July 1, 2018,

September 1, 2018, and January 2, 2019.

Installment Plan: Tuition payable in nine installments due July 1, 2018 through March 1, 2019. Plan includes a 4% service fee.
