COMMUNITY We highlight Ridley Funeral Home for their efforts in giving back to our community during the Holiday season. On the Santa Clause Parade route which goes right past their front door, they set up a table with free Tim Hortons hot chocolate for passers by. They also accept donations which they match and give to the Gatehouse at the end of the day; typically raising $150 to $200. Also, on Dec. 7 they host a Holiday’s and Hope service at the Assembly Hall at 7 pm. This year, Dr. Bill Webster will be the guest speaker. The service has a music component, education on how to get through the Holidays after a loss, and a candle lighting. This is a free event.

HOLIDAY RECIPE DISCO STEW As the colder weather looms, here’s a great opportunity to warm up with a hearty meal made from locally sourced ingredients. There’s no recipe, per se, so consider this a chance to tap into your inner creative self and come up with your own version of “Disco Stew”. Start by browning cubes of beef in a pan with onions and garlic. Add a bit of butter if you desire. In a separate pot, mix one large can of diced tomatoes along with chopped mushrooms, onions (sweet & green), potatoes, garlic & Jamaican ginger. Add olive oil, herbs & salt to taste. Mix contents into pan with beef. Serve with chunks of Italian bread. Enjoy!

MICHAEL & ALEX Michael hosts Christmas at his home with kids, grandparents, gifts, decorations, and lots of traditional food.
