PUBLISHER’S NOTE HAPPY HOLIDAYS! didn’t thank my suppliers - my printer, my photographer, and my distributor. Thank you, Jason and Thomas, Igor, and Ariel. It’s a pleasure working with you every month. Thank you to all of our Editorial Contributors. Without you, this magazine would just be a bunch of ads surrounded by blank white pages. And last but never least, thank you to my better half - my loving wife, Jessica. I can’t say enough good things about this woman. I am truly blessed! She’s given me two sons and all the love a man could ask for. She’s the reason you’re reading this. It has been an amazing year for our family. We’ve watched both Jaxon and Luke grow and mature into spirited, rambunctious young boys.

ROGER TUMMINIERI

Publisher & Long Branch Resident Welcome to December’s Holiday edition!

First off, I’d like to thank Marc Foto for gracing our cover this month. Marc is the owner of the new 9Round franchise in Long Branch. He was born and raised in Etobicoke, moved to Vaughan, and is now making a comeback with 9Round located on the Lakeshore. Congratulations, Marc, on bringing your business to Long Branch and I wish you many years of success. Editor’s Note: I normally don’t speak so highly of my clients, but I watched Marc hit the speed bag during our cover shoot and, frankly, I’m a little scared of the guy.

Business has been great, too. I feel so fortunate to be able to support my family financially by publishing the Etobicoke Lakeshore Press. It started out in 2015 as a labour of love and now it’s chugging along into its fifth year (pun alert). As 2020 approaches, I’m excited for the year ahead. I’m looking forward to publishing another twelve editions of what one reader once called, “The Little Magazine That Could.” Thank you for reading and for your appreciation of my love for South Etobicoke and all things Long Branch. Don’t forget to visit us online each month to see what’s Fresh Off The Press! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family. Sincerely,

Moving on... This edition marks the last of 2019. What a year it’s been! Thank you to all of our Ad Partners for being a part of our community within a community. I’d also like to thank our Readers, yes you, for your constant support and interest in our hyper-local editorial coverage. I don’t often mention them, but I’d be remiss if I

O’SHEA’S GIVES BACK There’s still time to give back to our community this Christmas by joining forces with the folks at T.J. O’Shea’s Irish Snug. Colby Kriegl and Meagan Larman are continuing to collect donations of new, unwrapped toys to support the Toy Room at LAMP. The Toy Room is where 200 families who have fallen on tough times can go and pick out gifts for their kids free of charge. Your donation of toys or cash (to be used to buy gifts that are age-appropriate for older children and teens), will help put smiles on the faces of children in our neighbourhood. Kriegl and Larman are taking their charitable spirit one step further. They will also be collecting cash donations to help purchase Christmas dinners for less fortunate families. Your donation of $45 will buy a family a turkey with all the trimmings, vegetables and dessert. DROP OFF YOUR DONATIONS AT: T.J. SANTA’S TOP PICK...

We’ve been writing about the beehives at Moya Financial’s main branch for months. It’s a fascinating initiative and one that we’ve been proud here at the Etobicoke Lakeshore Press to cover. The bees have put in all the hard work after spending the summer flying around the neighbourhood, pollinating and doing all the other cool things that bees do. Now their efforts have been recognized by the Big Man, himself. No, not that Big Man... the other Big Man - you know...Santa Claus! That’s right, Santa has named Moya Honey the No. 1 Stocking Stuffer gift this Christmas! Stop by Moya’s main branch at 747 Brown’s Line and pick up a jar of Santa’s favourite hyper-local Alderwood honey.

ARTS & CULTURE SEEKERS THROUGH ARTS Our sub-community culture in Etobicoke-Lakeshore is strong. We’ve heard time and again from visitors that the journey from Long Branch to Mimico can feel like coming to a whole different part of the city! So it’s nice when this season comes along, when joy is in the air, when people are a little friendlier and more open to reach across the boundaries and celebrate together at events such as the Mimico By The Lake BIA Tree Lighting and Etobicoke Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade. LSA has a great space for community members to come together, meet their neighbours, and connect through the arts. While you’re out and about with your holiday to-do’s, we invite you to make time for connection and learning at the Library of Things We Can Learn from Each Other, currently occupying our Community Project Space (CPS). We’ve got two Free School sessions coming up this month. Local resident and business owner Monika Meulman will lead a session on Urban Foraging, December 5 from 7 - 9pm, where you can learn how to identify edible vegetation right in your neighbourhood! And on December 11, come join the KuliVersity from 7 - 9pm; an intro to the history, contemporary practice, and performance of Kulintang, an instrumental music from the Philippines. Season’s Greetings from LSA!

GOING FORWARD CHRISTMAS SHOPPING We have so much history in Long Branch, Mimico and surrounding neighbourhoods. From past to present, this area has enjoyed a small number of establishments in businesses for over 30 years. Now many new restaurants and retail shops have opened along the Lakeshore. I, myself, have had a clothing store in the early 80’s on Lake Shore and an Art Gallery and Café that I opened in 2002. From experience and as a local resident, I must emphasize the importance of supporting your community and neighbourhood businesses. It is really important to take advantage of your local businesses for them to be able to succeed. Meet the owners if possible and their employees. Take a walk if able, drive or take the streetcar to see the changes on the Lakeshore. There are also a lot of store fronts available for you if you have a business in mind. There is always a lot of parking available and easy access to TTC. Lakeshore in Etobicoke in the past always had low population density. That has changed with all the new development from the Humber River to Marie Curtis Park. There is so much to offer the residents with our beautiful Lake Ontario, parks, nature trails, quaint coffee shops and a 24-hour streetcar. Let’s keep our city safe, clean, and support one another.

LONG BRANCH HISTORY T’WAS THE 6TH... T’was the sixth night before Christmas and all along the Lakeshore was the hustle and bustle of shoppers while crunching fresh snow ‘neath their festive fare. The proprietor of the Royal Theatre had mailed out Opening Night invitations with the hopes that family, friends, and Longbranchians would soon be there. The boiler was freshly stoked, and the scent of pristine glazing paint, lacquered hardwood floors, and 600 lushly upholstered theatre chairs filled the air. The warm glow of ambient lighting, the projector lamp, stage fill and spot lights were ready to do the limelight. The Mimico Radial Tram stopped at number 23 and folks dressed in fine array quickly lined up for the entertainment event of the year. New Model Ts , Chevrolets, Buicks and Packards parked on Lakeshore in military precision with their owner’s great care. With the Royal’s ticket booth and lobby humming, newly uniformed ushers proudly escorted patrons to their chair. The house lights dimmed and a hush engulfed the audience with the most anticipated glee.

was followed by an added attraction of “BOB“ Wilson, Canada’s Premiere Comedian, assisted by Grace Bonnick, in “Pianologue Elocution”. Epilogue In the Roaring Twenties, the Royal Theatre was built by Mr. O. Whittan on the lands of Bob Eastwood Farms (recognized for their Royal Winter Fair Golden prize-winning ‘Shorthorn Cattle’) at a cost of $40,000.00. It opened on Friday, December 19th, 1924 - just 3 months after the opening of the Long Branch Race Track. In the early1930’s, the theatre was converted to present ‘Talkies’ motion pictures. In the mid-sixties, the Royal Theatre was damaged by fire and was repurposed to become a restaurant bar and grill known as ‘The Block House’ and later ‘The International House’. Today, at 3595 Lakeshore Blvd West, the original Royal Theatre structure houses the ODEUM Event Venue.

The Programme “Ladies and Gentlemen!” the Master of Ceremonies announced. “It is with particular pleasure that the proprietor, Mr. O. Whittan, thank you for graciously attending the debut night of his Palatial Picture Palace, December 19th 1924.”

HISTORY

IN THE MAKING

“Tonight, it is with merriment and delight that we introduce you to comedian, Mr. Bob Hopkins.” After an accolading applause, the Master of Ceremonies introduced the Royal Theatre’s orchestra: “Tom Scott on first Violin, G. Newman on Piano, George Beck Jr. on Cornet, George Coulter on Cello, and W. Obernier Jr. on Drums and Xylophone.” Next, he introduced “The Mimico Dancers” Verna Bestwick and Teddy Harrison. “Ladies and Gentlemen,” he continued. “It is with great expense but for your ultimate convenience and entertainment pleasure that Royal Theatre presents for the very first time, the feature (silent) motion picture; The Clean Heart by A.S.M. Hutchinson, featuring Percy Marmont and Marqueritte de la Motte.” After the premier screening of The Clean Heart, Mr. Hopkins made a second presentation which

COMMUNITY BRIEF DECEMBER 2019 The holidays have arrived down at the Lake. The Halloween decorations are down and hints of holiday cheer are starting to pop up along Lakeshore. This season always provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the year we’ve had and look forward to the year ahead. As we wrap up our fall semester, there is no doubt that these past four months have been exciting and monumental for us here at Humber’s Lakeshore campus. There is much to celebrate this year. Since September, Humber participated in The GARDENS Harvest Party, celebrating 750lbs (340.69kg) of produce we have grown in the public community gardens – a record year for the project! We celebrated our eighth year hosting the Etobicoke-Lakeshore Culture Days on campus. We also hosted our annual campaign for mental health awareness by running and walking around campus with people from all across our community to raise awareness about mental health. Through learning and program development, Humber co-hosted the Student Career Panel in partnership with Fashion Group International of Toronto (FGI) at the Centre for Entrepreneurship. The Office of Sustainability hosted Fair Trade Campus Week events across campus and the Humber community proudly recognized two Comedy program alumni for their success in premiering their new comedy show Tallboyz on CBC. As we ring in the holiday season, we are proud to continue the work we are doing in the community. Some of our students have been busy at work helping to bring holiday cheer to the community. Once again, Humber is proud to support the Etobicoke Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade. Humber is a longtime supporter of the event and has engaged in a number of different ways over the years, giving our staff and students opportunities to help make the parade a success while having a lot of fun along the way. This year marks the 29th annual Etobicoke Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade and is expected to bring together 60,000 guests. Please join us on Saturday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m. on Lake Shore Boulevard West (1st Street to 36th Street) for this merry celebration.

I look forward to celebrating the holiday season with all of you and invite you to join us in celebrating this festive month. Be sure to enjoy the campus, check out the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre and meet new faces in the community. Have a happy and safe holiday and I look forward to creating new memories in 2020.

Also, the second annual New Toronto Holiday Market will be returning to our Lakeshore Campus on Saturday, December 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We are happy to host this event at our Student Welcome and Resource Centre building where guests can shop for a special homemade gift for the holidays, visit with friends and enjoy entertainment for the kids. All proceeds from the vendor table rentals will benefit the LAMP Community Health Centre (www.lampchc.org). The event will feature a wrapping station in support of Street Level which is one of LAMP’s programs focused on working with youth to make healthy

COVER STORY MARC FOTO BRINGS 9ROUND TO Getting to know Marc Foto over the last number of months has been a real pleasure for me. I’ve watched as he’s transformed the old Lakeshore Signs location into a new and vibrant business in Long Branch; 9Round Etobicoke. It takes a special someone to start a business. It takes even more gusto to completely renovate an existing retail space and transform it into something completely fresh and appealing to local residents. Foto has done both, but it hasn’t come easily. I’m always curious to know what entrepreneurs like Foto thought the process of opening their own business would be like and how that idea compared to the actual outcome. In the case of 9Round Etobicoke, Foto’s expectations weren’t that far off from what he had initially hoped for, save for some minor construction delays. He was able to build a skilled, friendly and reliable staff of trainers, as well as open in a neighbourhood that has quickly embraced the 9Round philosophy: high-intensity kicking and punching workouts that last 30 minutes, change every day, include a trainer, and there are no class times so you can workout whenever it suits your schedule.

KUNGA CHIME Fitness Coach & Certified Personal Trainer

“We opened with well over 100 members,” states Foto happily. “I’m absolutely thrilled with the success we’ve had thus far!” Like all good leaders, Foto has chosen a solid team to back him at 9Round. Trainers are friendly and qualified. Foto stands by his team and they stand by him. It’s nice to be around a group of likeminded people who place their members’ wellness objectives above all else. They even have fighter-style nicknames for each other. Can you guess which one is the Serbian Prince?

LONG BRANCH!

By: Roger Tumminieri As for Foto, his passion lies in being able to help people improve; to be better and get stronger. Born and raised in Etobicoke, Foto attended high school at Michael Power / St. Joseph. He eventually moved to Vaughan and is currently a mortgage broker. He is proud to have come full circle, returning to his Etobicoke roots by opening a 9Round franchise in Long Branch. “I believe exercise is the key to good health,” Foto explains. “I love boxing and I’m happy to be helping people reach their full fitness potential.” Someone once told me after having seen a photograph of my wife that I was, and I quote: “punching above my weight class.” As the Christmas Holidays approach, consider a membership at 9Round as a gift for your loved ones or yourself. A little self-love and self-defence can be a great combination. And who knows, maybe after a few months of 9Round workouts, you’ll find yourself punching above your weight class, too.

HEALTHY HOLIDAYS

JENNY SHEARMAN

Personal Chef & Owner, My Sweet Beet 647-457-0093 / IG: @mysweetbeet www.mysweetbeet.ca So how do you stay healthy during the Holidays; a time of extravagant office parties, and decadent family dinners? Making healthy choices during the season of excess can be a challenge. Happily, you can stick to your goals without swearing off butter tarts and eggnog entirely by practicing these tips for healthy holiday food choices: Practice mindful eating Focus on what you are eating and take your time to savour it. We often tend to gobble down food on the go, mindful eating typically helps us eat less and enjoy food more. So instead of denying yourself a slice of tourtière meat pie or Christmas cupcake, try focusing on enjoying it slowly, savouring the sensation of every bite. Don’t go hungry It can be tempting to skip meals in an attempt to save some room for the big dinner but allowing yourself to go hungry compromises your self-control, putting you at greater risk for succumbing to unhealthy binging later on. Stay active Remaining physically active over the holidays is important for boosting energy and mood. It’s especially important to schedule physical activities around the holidays when it can be easy to fall into a cycle of eating big meals and vegging out on the couch. Get support Your chef can prepare healthy, satisfying meals, helping you reclaim cooking and shopping time, taking the stress out of meal planning, and ensuring you stay on track during the holidays.

MIMICO Q&A WITH CHERAY CORRADO How long have you lived in Mimico and what do you love most about living here?

My family and I have lived in Mimico for 15 years. We had a five year planned, we are now at the point where we love it here and don’t want to leave. There are so many things that we love about Mimico, it really is growing so quickly. The community and the eclectic feel here is what really makes Mimico so unique. There’s truly so much character here!

SOAP & HONOUR

www.soapandhonour.com 416-722-9971 Tell us about your business, Soap & Honour.

Soap & Honour is a very passionately run, small home-based company. Passion; that’s the number one ingredient in Soap & Honour’s products. I absolutely love the process of adding creativity to each of my products. Along with safe, fresh, clean products made from ingredients that all of us can use and feel great about on our skin. It all began in 2016, in my kitchen late one night under a full moon. From that point on it was set in stone; the magic of creating began. Each piece I create is filled with love and magic to soothe our bodies, souls and our minds.

Are you taking orders for Christmas?

Yes! Since I usually make eveything fresh to order, the more lead-time I have the better. But I can always make the magic happen for my customers!

STYLE & FASHION TRENDING THIS WINTER As the mercury plummets, it’s time to break out your beloved winter gear. Here’s a list of what’s trending this Christmas. Take it from me, I know... Bells Silver bells! I know this is a weird one to start with, but our lead product development Elf tells me that Bells are the new black this Christmas. Fur Baby, it’s cold outside! Fur hats, fur coats, fur mittens, and even fur blankets are all the rage this year. So as not to get on anyone’s bad side, let’s just say the elves are busy making the faux variety. Boots Let it snow! That’s what my wife says. She knows all the good girls and boys will be ready for it. Ear Muffs Do you hear what I hear?! Nothing. That’s ‘cause ear muffs are making a comeback. From buffalo checks to blaze orange, ear muffs are a thing this Christmas. Plaid Pants I’ll be home for Christmas! That’s because I’ll be wearing pants. But not just any old pants - I’ll be donning my very special, only-to-be-wornat-Christmas plaid plants. They work best when tucked into your socks and hiked up just under your armpits. It’s where fashion meets function. Merry Christmas, my friends!

FAMILY LIFE HOW GRATEFUL ARE WE?

The Christmas Holidays are an important time for our family. We like to look back at the year that’s passed and take stock of what went well and what we can improve on going forward.

year and we pray for continued success. Luke is growing into a strong and determined toddler. He’s no longer the little baby I often imagine him to be. He’s a big boy now - walking and running where he pleases, feeding himself with utensils and drinking out of regular cups. This kid is growing up too quickly! As for Jax, well, he’s one of a kind. He had a great season playing rugby for the Toronto Dragons. Roger and I both grew up playing rugby and we’re so thrilled to see Jax taking a liking to the sport. Now that Luke can run, it’s time to teach him how to tackle!

I’m pretty proud of my boys (husband included). In our family, we like to be humble (sometimes teaching humility to a 7-year-old boy is a difficult task, especially when he’s ‘the best at everything’). We take comfort in knowing that if we don’t take ourselves too seriously, always be kind to others, and give thanks as often as possible for all the good that God has given us, life will be great.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season filled with happiness and great health. Merry Christmas!

If you’re looking for ways to give back this Christmas, consider joining Roger and I in supporting an initative led by the good people at T.J. O’Shea’s Irish Snug in Long Branch. Colby Kriegl and Meagan Larman have taken it upon themselves to raise money in support of the LAMP Toy Room. They’re also raising funds to help put Christmas dinner on the table of those less fortunate. For $45 you can help feed a family a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings and dessert. We’re looking forward to 2020 with open arms. We can’t wait to experience what the new year has in store for us.

Bereaved Families & Friends

Are Invited To Ridley Funeral Home’s Annual

Everyone welcome! This service is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC {Please RSVP to Ridley Funeral Home @ 416.259.3705}

Please join us for encouragement and music.

WED, DEC. 4, 2019 | 7PM | THE ASSEMBLY HALL 1 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive (Located at the South end of Kipling Ave.) Christmas is a time of happiness and excitement. It is also a time to remember loved ones who have passed away. Ridley Funeral Home’s Annual Holidays & Hope Candlelight Service of Remembrance is an opportunity for families to draw strength and support from their community and memorialize their loved ones. Plenty of parking. Complimentary refreshments to follow.

LIFE’S UNDERTAKINGS MOST WONDERFUL TIME But there’s something about Christmas that seems to dim the light of common sense – and good ole-fashioned decency – of well-intentioned people as they try to “cheer up” and “be merry” around grieving men, women and children. What do sad people need at Christmas time? Your time, attention and understanding. Some of the most heartbreaking things I hear from families, especially widows and widowers, is when they return to the funeral home for a visit. (Yes, a visit.)

BRAD JONES

Owner, Ridley Funeral Home

Holiday lights are twinkling in our direction. The malls are screaming our name. And in-laws remain the same. ‘Tis the season for festivities, family and fun. But not for everyone. Celebrations like Christmas and New Year’s can be tremendously painful, at best terribly awkward, for people grieving the loss of a loved one. Funeral director Brad Jones offers up hard-earned wisdom about how to navigate the Hoho season when someone you love doesn’t feel nice or naughty, but numb. My favourite definition of “wisdom” is knowing what doesn’t work. If you have a lot of wisdom about life and how to live, you’ve likely stumbled through messy missteps, suffered magnificent mishaps and caused a lot of merry mayhem. Good for you. Your wisdom is a warning to others. Over the years I’ve earned plenty of “wisdom” about Christmas. I know never to go shopping on Christmas Eve – my wife always knows. I know fasting all day doesn’t justify eating 3000 lbs of turkey dinner. I know speaking to my children when they’re watching Santa movies is futile. For almost three decades I’ve been a husband, father and funeral director. Just as I’ve accumulated a lot of wisdom – what doesn’t work – in the realms of marriage and fatherhood, I’ve earned “wisdom” at work, too, especially when the holidays come to town. Despite my height and turkey-loving girth, I am considered near invisible at our funeral home. Being discreet is part of the work. So is the observation of family dynamics and social customs. Ninety percent of the time I am warmed by the bright lights of kindness, graciousness, empathy and generosity shown to the families mourning and grieving inside our funeral home.

“It’s like he never existed. No one ever talks about John.” “My friends act like ‘out of sight, out of mind.’” “They keep telling me to keep busy and start packing up Nellie’s room.” If I had to share only one piece of advice about how to help when life falls apart? First, I’ll share a giant pet peeve because I speak for a lot of broken-hearted people by sharing this “wisdom” (doesn’t work) piece. Please stop saying or texting the empty platitude “If there’s anything I can do” to grieving people. Ignore that the majority of people repeat such misguided gibberish. “If there’s anything I can do” puts the onus on those grieving to follow-up or think about how you can help. But broken-hearted people are devastated, can’t think straight, and feel overwhelmed and raw. And let’s be honest. Offering up “If there’s anything I can do” is usually considered an end game. Most people don’t expect a follow-up response or specific request from the grieving family. But offering a platitude is just that: words that go nowhere. If you want to truly ease a person’s burden, consider what they’re carrying on their shoulders. Get creative about how to help remove the weight. (Likely the only weight being removed this Christmas.) Actually show up and do something kind, thoughtful, unexpected, unrequested and helpful. When in doubt: Make a tuna casserole, rake leaves, shovel snow, drop off a plant, drive them to church, send a card with a personal note, or offer to take their kids to a movie. Be willing to feel uncomfortable, awkward and unsure if what you’re doing is “right.” It is. You’re showing you care by taking inspired and

OF YEAR? NOPE. imperfect action. Remember, especially during the holiday season, there is nothing that’s going to make grieving people truly feel better, not right away, so be easy on yourself. Your only job is to help shoulder some of their burden by taking some form of loving action. The best and merriest advice about helping people when their hearts are broken wide open? The people grieving their loved one usually appreciate and draw comfort, sometimes breathtaking joy, in hearing the mention of their loved one’s name. So simple, right? Mention and talk about the person who’s died. As a culture, we’re trained not to upset fragile people – and we want to avoid feeling socially awkward – so our lovely, logical left brain assures us that not speaking the dead person’s name, especially at family-focused gatherings like Christmas, is a fabulous idea. Nope. Telling (positive, funny, loving) stories and recalling (positive, funny, loving) memories about the person who has died reassures family and friends that the rest of us have not forgotten the loved one who’s no longer at the table, without a place setting, and not receiving gifts from under the tree this year. If you’re the person grieving this holiday season, do your best to ask for what you want – and what you don’t want – from the people who love you. The Holidays may not light you up as they once did, but the spirit of the season stays the same for all of us: give love, receive love, and let comfort and support warm you this winter as we face a very new year. Brad Jones and his staff at Ridley Funeral Home (3080 Lake Shore Blvd) are hosting their annual Holidays and Hope Wed, Dec. 4th at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public. Assembly Hall (south end of Kipling Ave.). An evening of reflection and music. Light refreshments served afterwards. YOUR HEALTH TALK TO YOUR PHARMACIST The holidays are right around the corner! We often look for landmarks in time - big events - to centre our future actions around. “I’ll start to be more healthy once the holidays are over”. How many of you have said this to yourself, and believed it? We can sometimes be our own worst critics, and you may find it easier to believe the negative things you tell yourself while brushing aside any positive self talk as something from the realm of fantasy. Whether you tell yourself you can or you can’t, you are going to be correct. Focusing on the positive will give you something to move towards. For example, if you are a patient with diabetes, telling yourself “I can’t have carbs” can make you feel limited in the food options that you can have. Reframing the conversation to “I can make healthy food choices and enjoy fresh, whole foods” now opens you up to many new possibilities. Maria talks about setting an intention for the year. This year, I have chosen the word “ACTION” and I’ll talk more about this in January. The important thing here is that I’m not waiting for a specific time to start implementing this word or intention. The only time that we have is now.

JONATHAN NHAN, RPh, CDE Pharmacist / @nhanjonathan

Remember to stay healthy and happy throughout the holiday season. Enjoy your time with friends and family. Get your flu shot to ward off the flu. Ask us about Digital Pharmacy to make managing your medications easier. Think about a word or intention you’d like to define your next year and start letting it work for you.

Every December feels the same: rushed and busy, ending with a few, or many, “resolutions”. Then January arrives, followed by February, followed by life. The checklist of resolutions begins to feel more like suggestions, reminders, and aspirations that we will get to after running to the grocery store and picking up kids from school. Inevitably, December 31st arrives again, disappointed. A good way to avoid this is to set intentions, instead of resolutions. Ask yourself, “What would a beautiful life feel like?”. Words like compassion, grace, embodiment, authenticity, kindness, strength, power, trust, and love may come up. For example, I set my intention for 2019 as TRUTH. I want to function and relate to others from a place of truth at all times. Being honest and truthful to myself, my wishes, and my intentions. You can choose power, compassion, or trust. Whatever your intention is, it is possible to maintain, keep and even nurture during the year, making it hard to abandon.
