Hello and welcome to our very Special “GET OUT THE VOTE” Election Edition!
Are you as excited about this election as I am? If you read my Publisher’s Note last month, you’ll know that I am running for Council in Grey Highlands. I’m one of 16 running for 5 Councillor seats.
You can tell just by driving around Grey Highlands that there’s a lot of energy sur
rounding this election. Just look at all the signs!
I strongly encourage you to read up on and get to know your candidates for Council.
I’ve listed everyone again this month and there are other resources worth checking out, namely the Municipality website and also www.votegrey.ca.
ROGER TUMMINIERI
Supporting Local in Grey Highlands6 PUBLISHER’S NOTE OCTOBER 2022
I’m not just a candidate in this election, however. I’m also a voter.
As such, I’m trying to evaluate who to vote for, but more importantly, the characteris tics of a good leader.
What type of individual would I want to represent me and my family, as well as my neighbours at Council?
That’s the big question.
What does it take to be a good local repre sentative? Well, I’d venture to say that one needs to be reasonable and accountable in all of their dealings. I think one must ap proach each issue individually and make informed decisions based on collaborative and transparent dialogue with other mem bers of Council, Staff, and the Public.
There are a lot of passionate people run ning for Council in Grey Highlands and I think we should all tip our hats to them. I can attest, running a campaign (especially for the first time) is not easy. There’s a lot of work that goes into preparing for the many meetings that candidates are invited to at tend - which is understandable, given the importance of this election and the issues being discussed. I’m enjoying it and I hope you are, too.
Please vote. Vote early if you’d like. You can do it online as of October 7th at 10am.
Enjoy Election Night on the 24th as the re sults pour in. It’ll be interesting to see what our new Council looks like.
Best of luck to all the candidates who are running. I think Grey Highlands is already the winner!
