The panoramic view of the region exempted from any heavy built mass visually, And so, an approach to the design was concluded. The built mass should not over-power the serene scenic views of the hills. The form of the building was planned such that it followed the contours of the building. This created a monotonous experience for the users. the building blocks were staggered to allow light, wind and to create semi-private courts for each unit. The blocks were linked via a common roof. The roof was punctured to allow air to continuously move, creating well ventilated spaces in the building.

While planning the building, a more humanly connected approach was adapted. Each zone was designed keeping in mind the human scale and visual comfort. Finally a form was created which catered all the design and planning concepts and approaches required for the design, specifically: -
Connecting built with natural. Proper light and air ventilation. Selective Privacy. Common semi-private courts. Built for human scale and comfort. Connected, yet segregated.
The courtyards: - Keeps the building cool - Acts as a buffer space. - Acts as a release space - binds outdoor and indoor together. - Fades the boundary between built and natural. Maximizing vista:

- Courtyards are placed such that the vista on the north is not blocked. - Blocks are placed, strategically, so that each block gets the view of the reservoir.
View of the curved corridor, leading to the entrance of the building
Solar Orientation: - Corridor on the south side - reduces heat - Courtyards on the northern side - always partially shaded - Open towards north - max diffused light Maximizing Interaction - Maximizing privacy: - A large central courtyard is provided at the entrance of the building, this will be the major Interaction zone. - Smaller courtyards are provided for each block to use as semi-private courtyards. Wind Orientation: - Blocks placed in such a way that it allows max Cross ventilation. - Punctures between blocks - allows air to transfer to farthest of blocks. - Courtyards placed in such a manner that, through vegetation, keeps the vicinity cool. Breaking the vision lines: The corridor has been curved, so that it breaks the monotonic nature of straight corridors Aerial View of CEERS

1. View of the entrance porch and drop off. A green court was created in front of the building to balance the weight of the heavy structure, to keep the visual weight light and provide the users with a big open space to transverse about. 2. The two main blocks of the building create a ever shaded central courtyard, keeping the overall temperature cool. 3. Different design elements, like Jalis and inward openings allow the use of selective privacy. 4. Plan of the Building. 5. Use of Jali to reduce heat gain, at the same time, allowing light and air into the building

STATE LIBRARY PROPOSAL (MP, INDIA) Madhya Pradesh is one of the largest state of India, yet it does not have a State Library. A proposal was set forward for the construction of the state library, explaining the impacts it may have on the city and the state.
23
Design Brief The design strives to create a sense of place that is open, porous and fluid. The “non-Buildingâ€? designed here interweaves landscape, open spaces in a tapestry of architectural form that is inviting, exciting and engaging for its stakeholders. The design began by positioning the functional spaces in a manner that maximizes entire public floor as one public space where various activities can happen simultaneously. By elevating entire auditorium to first floor level and moving all services and parking to lower ground floor level, entire upper ground floor is freed up for public event and interactions. Spaces for art gallery, cafĂŠ, auditorium entrance, book shop, functions lobby are positioned on same level where major part of open spaces are shaded by buildings & shading elements . The design significantly increase engagement of users and extend the amount of time spent in the place

High thermal mass is provided on west facade with minimum openings. The orientation of blocks is almost east west which is thermally most efficient. Pre-Design Sun path studies have been conducted to ensure shaded outdoors Auditorium slab is placed on column grids within café/gallery etc area, making the structure more economical. Post tensioning will be done to achieve cost efficiency considering loading requirements. All service areas of library are organized around a central core for easy movement of volumes and employees.

Destiny of everything. This one in particular makes me think about, no matter what it is, everything goes back to the Earth. Even if it is a sculpture of extravagance. That holds true for even for your problems. No matter how hard it may seem today, it’s going to end some day. It’s going to get buried into the ground. Just like that old man who used to yell at you for playing around his house. Jokes apart, since everything is eventually getting buried into the ground, why not respect it and stay close to it, so that when you fall, you don’t fall too hard. After all, isn’t Earth the destiny of everything?
