FROM THE GAFFER
Let’s not make any bones about it - Newtown are in a false position in my opinion - they’ve been in Europe for the last two seasons, they’ve invested again in the summer with the signing of Louis Robles and they are trying to improve again and kick on and they’ll certainly be in and around that top 3-4 places for Europe.
I firmly expect them to come good in the next couple of months, however we’re fully aware of what that looks like moving forwards for us tonight - a tough game, a really tough game and obviously we are missing Aron Williams who picked up a concussion during the Penybont game, having to go off after 12 minutes and we are really disappointed. At the time I was really worried about the challenge that he recieved and having watched it back and knowing Dan Jefferies as a player, I don’t think he meant it, it’s just a clash of heads, but it does raise it’s concerns because we are in a modern day where we are fully aware of head injuries and the impact of that.

We’ve got Mike Wilde up front every week and I’ve been a little bit disappointed in the last couple of weeks about the amount of fouls that are given against him whereas people are coming through the back of him and he’s not getting protected and I worry that we are going to get another serious head injury the next few weeks and thankfully Aron is recovering well but he is going to be out for a few weeks while he goes through the concussion protocol, so we’ll be light on numbers in a couple of areas tonight, but we are hopeful that after this week’s training we’ll be right at it tonight and look to keep this fantastic winning run going that we are on.
Enjoy the game
