EDITOR’S NOTE

The Gossipmonger, also known as the taleteller, or the never-gonna-keep-your-secret-even-if-you-told-me-so kind of creature. An advocator of lies about someone’s private life. The one who pays perfect attention to the mistakes of others than the one’s it commits. The unnecessary politician who drags you down to keep itself atop. A toxic waste disguising itself as your cravings, waiting for you to dive in and become the psycho-author that you’ll never recover from. IT’LL CHANGE WHO YOU ARE. This year’s Ebb&Tide entitled “The Gossipmonger”, delves into the never been told secrets of people you may or may not know. Stories that had been hesitated to share because of the gossips and lies that spread as quick as a virus and tries to encapsulate the truth. It’s about time that we address the issues created by us, told by us, or us being the victim of the so called society, and deliver a message that these gossips, lies, and issues are nothing but a pile of wasted confrontations and understatements. If we tell the truth, and nothing but the truth, then maybe we’ll be able to recover our corrupted souls. Glend Marie Joy E. Pajes LITERARY EDITOR

GAME OVER

BY: ROTTEN LEMON

At the start of this game I knew I have to be a winner; Isn’t that my only purpose? There’s nothing but going forward, At least that’s what they told me. I won’t let anyone distract me Even if it’s someone who needs my help. But the console compelled me; /Press A to interact/ I’m no one when not controlled. “Let him come with me, I don’t care!” Yet, he defended me When a group of bandits showed up, When I almost fell of the cliff And when a goblin almost ate me. Alas, he saved me, too, From a ferocious dragon’s fire breath. It won me this journey, But it resulted his end. And now I’m back to being alone In this eternal gloom. “This is why I fear companionship” Beep /Continue? Yes. No. / Yes. I’ll experience this never-ending cycle of anguish. No. I’d be miserable on my own. I can’t even select between these two choices; I’m nothing but a loser.

You had me in my most vulnerable I am a clear shot out in the open Unaware of what is about to hit You’re a stirring plague of doom Hidden under an innocent mask Reeking poison of lies from your lips Passed into ears of mindless souls Spreading hate, contracting malice Infecting many of your envious state It’s a virus of vile words Made to murder a reputation But what you have made didn’t kill me Ironically, it killed you You pushed the syringe The needle into your own flesh How stupid of you, dear I guess karma really works.

IN NAME ONLY ONLY BY: RACHEL LAMAYO

There is nothing better Than having a friend Whom you can give a piece of yourself. A friend who makes you feel like home, In the time of the storm. A friend who rushes to you, In your time of need, or When your parents couldn’t understand you. A friend who talks about how amazing you are to other people. A friend who becomes a family. A friend who takes three steps towards you When you take two steps back. A friend who shares their laughter, Their tears, their frustrations, The person they admire, their dreamsEverything- with you. There is nothing worse Than having a “friend” Whom you gave a piece of yourself. Only for them to leave it in a cold place, And be long forgotten. A “friend” who makes you feel like home Only to abandon you in the time of the storm. A “friend” who rushes to you Only in their time of need. A “friend” whom you just pass by along the corridor or street A “friend” who talks about you behind your back A “friend” who becomes a stranger A “friend” who shares their laughter, Their tears, their frustrations; The person they like, their dreamsEverything- but not with you. Not anymore. It’s sad, but I’ve realized at this point in my life that it’s time to stop reaching out for people who don’t want to do the same with you. And that’s okay. Our happiness doesn’t always have to depend on our relationship with our friends.

DEAR TWO-LEGGED CRUSTACEAN BY: HUMANE

I have lost the very tiny faith I had for this world Where crabs put its fate in a state it never deserves Where reality is nothing but just another rumor In a society where a human discards being humane for the sake of his own favor. We have built a religion with a foundation of lies And humans will do anything to bring themselves up even through other’s demise We sit on thrones above skulls of other The fame you gain from the tears of another You can only read this if you’re in the same situation Where the people you trusted end up betraying you and put you in frustration Honestly, right now I’m just sipping on a warm cup of tea But it seems like this world needs a little honesty If you were honest enough you’d understand me And you’d agree that you’ve been lying to yourself while nodding at this melody This page never meant to comfort you anyways It’s meant to tell you what we are “these days” We lie and bring others down Yet we know it isn’t the right way to gain your crown The lies our tongues spit to make our crowns shine The only lie I said throughout this page is the first line.

When we choose to live for others, Do they choose to live for us, too?

BURN BURN PAGE PAGE THEY SAID, I SAID BY: JOHN ESTOPACIA

They said: I’m being stupid, I said: I’m being honest They said: I’m already hopeless, I said: maybe there is a hope. They said: I’m being obsessive, I said: this is love They said: I’m being used by him I said: I’m just that generous, They said: He’s not going to love me back I said: maybe, just maybe.

Up and down Around and around Nowhere to go Nowhere to be found

PISCES PISCES BY: ARIES

And there she sat The ghost of my beloved cat The one I seek The one I can never, again, tweak The one I miss The one I couldn’t give a one last kiss The one that’ll be in the shadows Forever in the wait and follow The one I never kissed goodbye And probably having a cat is one of my best lie.

I’ve kept silence way too long Dealing with all the rumors The weird looks and whispers exchanged It’s time to break this all at once I’m done being the victim You have enraged the ram that I am I stormed into the perpetrator’s face Barged in with my full grown horns Guilty much? why’d you swim away? Sad thing was you can’t even face it You’re just a coward hiding from behind Running your mouth to win sympathy Stabbing my back as we embrace It’s all clear to me now You’re nothing but a two-faced fish.

Hello my friend whom I know so long You exist in my head, the moment you were made An echoing voice filled with hate I wonder what did I do wrong?

In a world that marvels in the extravagance of the loud

The gleaming eyes of those who have listened Pierced my soul where I feel such loathe My heart asking what did they heard My anxious mind asking for hope Hello gossip spread by word When will you stop and lift the curse Answer my question before it gets worst Your voice pierces my heart like a sword

Let my words ring in silence My poetry be shared Let the strokes of my pen Speak the violence From the voices of the hurt In a world that worships only the mighty Let the young children play With hands, fragile and tiny Creating world from dirt and clay In the world that punishes the innocent Let their cries seek their vengeance Let the truth speak through the storms For the world gives back what has been given Only a ten-fold times and more Nor ever take back what has been taken And lives no longer than before

SONG: SECRET

BY: MARTEN

Got a secret Can you keep it? Swear this one you’ll save Better lock it, in your pocket Taking this one to the grave If I show you then they know it Won’t tell what I said Cause two can keep a secret If one of them is dead?

Got a secret Can you keep it? Swear this one you’ll save Better lock it, in your pocket Taking this one to the grave If I show you then I know you Won’t tell what I said Cause two can keep a secret If one of them is dead?

Why do you smile Like you have told a secret Now you’re telling lies Cause have sworn to keep it But no one keeps a secret No one keeps a secret Why when we do our darkest deeds Do we tell? They burn in our brains Become a living hell Cause everybody tells Everybody tells?

[spoken] Alison? Yes, Katherine. I have something I want to tell you, but you have to promise to never tell anyone. I promise Do you swear on your life? I swear on my life [end spoken] You swore you’d never tell? You swore you’d never tell? You swore you’d never tell? You swore you’d never tell?

Got a secret Can you keep it? Swear this one you’ll save Better lock it, in your pocket Taking this one to the grave If I show you then I know you Won’t tell what I said Cause two can keep a secret If one of them is dead?

Got a secret Can you keep it? Swear this one you’ll save Better lock it, in your pocket Taking this one to the grave If I show you then I know you Won’t tell what I said Cause two can keep a secret If one of them is dead?

Look into my eyes Now you’re getting sleepy Are you hypnotized By secrets that you’re keeping? I know what you’re keeping I know what you’re keeping
