Southern University The Office of Student Media How we spend our funds:

Student staffers represent SU and compete against other newspapers at conferences sponsored by The Associated Collegiate Press, College Media Advisers, and The National Association of Black Journalists. We maintain 36 issues a year of The Southern Digest 5 issues of The EGO Magazine a year 1 Jaguar Yearbook a year Your fees pay for scholarships and stipends for SU student media staff at $10 per published item (photo/story) and scholarships for the Editors-in-chief of all three publications, contractural services to produce all three publications and entries to competitions and conferences to represent SU. The surplus is being dedicated to offer more opportunities for future journalists to represent their institution at conferences and become members of professional organizations along with the upgrades to equipment for the office to offer students more for their fees. We offer the students the opportunity to be published and paid for published work, compete among other student/professional journalists, and gain real world experience. Our office does not have a GPA requirement and offers to positions to all majors. Gain journalism, design, sales, marketing, administrative, leadership and communication experience and get paid while doing it.
