PostbacCAS 2018/2019 Cycle Report
Conclusion Until now, very little data has been captured about post-bac programs and the students who leverage these opportunities to either enhance their current careers or begin new career paths. Even without empirical evidence, there’s no question that the over 200 post-bac programs at institutions across the U.S. are integral to creating a diverse healthcare workforce. With the support of the PostbacCAS community, we are now in the position to create a one-of-its-kind report that will create a foundation for longitudinal analysis of how students persist through these medical programs. Crises like COVID-19 are highlighting the importance of health professions and increasing national interest in these career paths for non-traditional students. Through data provided by PostbacCAS, these reports will inform programs’ abilities to structure, enhance and improve their academic offerings while helping students understand the breadth of opportunities available in the health professions.
Next Steps •
The 2019-2020 Cycle Report will be published in December 2020.
•
For the 2019-2020 Cycle Report, PostbacCAS would like to report on matriculated student metrics and profiles. To do so, we highly recommend that PostbacCAS member programs tie their local status to final decision codes for the 2019-2020 cycle.
•
The 2019-2020 application cycle will close on July 31, 2020. Please enter final decisions no later than October 30, 2020. Details on reporting final decision codes are available here.
