Supporting a healthy Immune System

By Charlotte Meschede - Nutritionist We have learned, without exception, that the most valuable asset people have is their health, and the most onerous burden of all is ill-health.

Virtually no article on health or immunity written within the last 2 years does not refer to the global effect of the pandemic and the devastating effects it has had on all populations. Now, more than ever before, we as human beings have become aware of our fragility and helplessness in the face of novel diseases and infections for which we have no cure. As a dietitian, I have received, and still do receive, numerous requests on how to boost one’s immunity.

It is also important to note that NO single food or supplement will prevent illness or infection. However, there are several key nutrients that have been identified as critical for the production of the various proteins and neurons required to perform specific immune functions3 .

What foods are important in supporting a healthy immune system?

Diet is one of the most significant and relevant factors that contribute to the prevalence of health. This process starts in the womb and is affected by a myriad of nutritional, hormonal and physiological components, which in turn affect energy levels and other metabolic functions. Research over the last decade, in particular, has introduced into nutritional research, factors such as genetics, epigenetics and the effects of the gut microbiome (healthy bacteria in the gut), all of which has broadened our comprehension and understanding of the human immune system. Food has been studied, not only from a chemical perspective, but also for the capacity of metabolites produced by the breakdown of food which can influence gene expression. Einstein-type information I know, but all of this research gives us a greater understanding and control of what we, as individuals, can do to enhance our well-being3. With all of this information in mind, I summarised the foods that stood out the most when it comes to optimizing immune health.

Try and include one or more of these foods on a daily basis:

Citrus fruits as we all know are rich in vitamin C but also have many other phytochemicals that help the body optimise immunity. Red bell peppers are superfoods for a variety of reasons and being a rich source of vitamin C is one of them. Broccoli is considered to be one of those superfoods that should frequent your plate, if possible, on a daily basis. It is a rich source of beta carotene (plant form of vitamin A), vitamin B complex and vitamin C. Yoghurt is useful for the immune system in that it helps to support the healthy bacteria in the gut, which are crucial for immunity. Almonds are not only a good source of healthy fats and calcium, but they are packed with vitamin E, which like vitamin C, is a powerful antioxidant. Garlic has been known for centuries for its ability to support the immune system. Ginger can help to reduce symptoms of nausea and also has a strong inflammation fighting action. The active compound is called gingerol. Turmeric is used in Western Herbal medicine has powerful inflammation fighting actions.

Sadly, not all of us have access to these foods on a regular basis, whether it is due to availability, budget or simply lack of knowledge. We all have hectically busy lives and many of us struggle to ensure our families get the best nutrition ALL of the time. AIM as always seems to ‘come to the rescue’ as many of their products reflect the increasing need for pure, raw ingredients and well-researched formulas and that can bridge the gap.

About AIM Proancynol 2000

Whilst I always support eating foods rather than relying on supplements, I have to confess that AIM Proancynol 2000 occupies a very important place in my nutritional kit. This powerful product has saved me on numerous occasions with all sorts of ailments through the years, both in myself and my family. It is a unique combination of SEVEN antioxidants, namely green tea extract, rosemary extract, grape seed extract, N-acetylcysteine, alpha-lipoic acid, lycopene and selenium. These compounds work synergistically to create a really strong response1 .

In conclusion, I reiterate that eating a diet that is full of healthy food is ALWAYS the first prize. However, we all need help as we continue to battle the challenges that face us on a daily basis, whether it is lack of time, availability or cost that drives us to seek other options. Ensuring that we can deliver appropriate and verified information for all our products remains our mantra.

Starting with July 2022 promotions, AIM is increasing the Director Promotion Awards for the titles of Director, Star Sapphire Director and Royal Emerald Director

Introducing AIM Customer

One of the most exciting enhancements is the introduction of AIM Customer, a brand-new option for ordering directly from AIM. Also called Favoured Customer, an AIM Customer might be someone who wishes to “try out” the AIM products or isn’t interested in the business opportunity. A key benefit for AIM Customers will be the ability to earn Loyalty Rewards on each AIM product order, which they can then redeem on their next product order placed within 6 months. Customers will pay a little more for AIM products than Members but will enjoy other features including shipping incentives and no membership or renewal fees.

How will AIM Customer benefit me?

As an AIM Member, you will earn rebates on the BVP of your Customer’s product purchases, the same you earn on a personally sponsored Wholesale Member. The Customer option will provide you with flexibility when promoting and sharing the AIM products with others. And at any time your Customer wants to become a Member, it will be an easy transition.

Other Changes

Smart Start Rewards

This incentive will end with June 2022 business, simplifying the overall focus on rebate increases to AIM Members.

Leadership Bonuses

Effective July 2022, a maximum of 1000 Personal Volume (PV) will count towards Group Volume when calculating the Director Growth Bonus and Director Three-Deep Bonuses (previously it was 3,000 PV). This helps AIM comply with best practices in the direct selling industry, and benefits Members growing their downline instead of “bonus buying” or “inventory loading.”

Preferred Member Promotion

Effective September 2022, a total of 600 Group Volume (GV) points within three consecutive months will be needed to promote to AIM Preferred Member title (previously it was 450 GV).

Annual Membership Fee

Effective July 2022, all new Members will pay a R200-00 initial membership fee. Starting in June 2023, Preferred Member and Group Builder titles will need 600 PV (previously it was 200 PV) points during their membership year to waive a R200.00 annual renewal fee. Wholesale Members will need 100 PV (previously it was 50 PV). If an AIM Member doesn’t renew by the end of their one-month grace period, they will convert automatically to AIM Customer.
